It's a nice name, right? That's how I got the inspiration for this game. Of course, you may say: "This guy must be stupid! Why is he writing a guide for a game that doesn't exist?" To clear things up, this is NOT a guide. This is a detailed idea for a game. This includes what the characters say, exactly what 'pops up' on the screen, etc. I actually am going to try to get this game carried out by Nintendo (it will probably be for the PC first, though). And if you read on about it, I hope you will join me to get this game published. Send me an email if you want to help, or even if you just want to comment this document or suggest something to add to it. Just read it first, all right? =========================================================================== ==========================Part Two: Game Basics============================ =========================================================================== Azure Sky has a unique sort of game engine. Here it is, arranged into sections. ===============================Basic Controls============================== Joystick: Moves the leader of your characters around. Hold to run. D-Pad: Used in some mini games (see walkthrough). Z: Hold down to run fast. Works as the 'A' button. A: Selects/confirms commands. Makes text scroll. B: Deselects/unconfirms commands. C Buttons: Change camera angle left/right/up/down. Start: Opens up the menu screen. R: Used in some mini games (see walkthrough), right scroll. L: Used in some mini games (see walkthrough), left scroll. ==============================The Menu Screen============================== The menu screen is where the player can equip the characters, check on status's, etc. On the bottom of the status screen, there are the pictures of the character you have on your team. Under their pictures are their level, HP/max HP, MP/max MP, and SP/max SP, ordered from top to bottom respectively. Above their pictures Are 6 options which can be selected with Z/A. The first one is Statistics. Once you select that, you can use R and L to scroll through all the characters (even the ones not in your team). The status shows their picture at the top. Under that is the HP, MP, SP, Power (attack power), Magic Power, Guard, Magic Guard, Speed, and Aim. Finally, under that is what their battle commands are, from left to right. The next option on the menu screen is the Inventory. This shows a list of all the party's items on 10 screens. 15 items on one screen, and up to 9 items can be stocked in one slot, if they are the same. Scroll through the screens with L and R. In the next row of options, Equipment comes first. The screen gets arranged into a table of sorts, with the characters on the bottom half, each having their own square. On the top, is the inventory of usable equipment, arranged by weapon, armor, and miscellaneous. In each character's square, there is a list of what they have on. To equip a character, press A once the cursor is on a character's picture. Than, select a weapon. If that character can use it, the character will trade his/her current weapon for the weapon you selected. This goes for armor and miscellaneous also. After Equipment comes Crystals. This works exactly like Equipment, except the characters' current crystals equipped are shown instead of equipment, and the crystals are pooled into one screen. The bottom line first option is Options. You can set the Background, Text Scroll Speed, Sound and Music Volume (seperately), Battle Text Speed, Game Difficulty (normal/hard, hard makes characters worse and monsters stronger), and Controls. The final option is Save, which can only be used when the characters are either in a town (some towns you can't save), on the world map, or at a save point. =================================Save Points=============================== Without Save Points, Azure Sky would be nearly impossible. They are shaped like diamonds, and they float in mid air. Step into one and you will hear a soft humming sound and you will be transported into a small room with a machine in it and another save point. You can then use the Save option as long as you are in this room. Press A near the machine, and you will be prompted with 2 options: Rest, and Storage. Select rest, and your characters will be completely healed. Storage asks you what items to store and brings up your inventory. Press A to store an item. Once you store an item, it will be slightly gray and faded instead of bright like regular items. Press A on a stored item to withdraw it. Press B to finish, and step on the other save point in the room to be transported back to where you were. ====================================Losing================================= There are two ways to get a Game Over in Azure Sky. The most obvious way is for all characters to run out of HP in battle. The second way is if you fail to complete a plot event. For instance, at one point Vahn has to save Cecilia from dying. If you don't save her in time, Cecilia dies (permenantly) and the game ends. Once you get a Game Over screen, your game will reload from your last save point. Any items, magic experience, progress etc. you got up until you died is gone, up until the time you saved. The only thing that IS kept, however, are experience levels. The experience you got will be halved, but you keep whatever is left. So in other words, if you want to tackle a hard level with hard enemies, consider saving before, but don't press reset after you lose. You will keep half your hard earned experience! ==============================Major World Changes========================== There are two points in the game in which the entire world changes in some way. Once you get about one quarter through the game, the characters will be able to travel to another world. Everything is different in the new world (except for some equipment/items), so you should consider getting any special items you missed before you go. Once you go to the next world, you need to insert the next game Pak. You will complete 50% more of the game. The worlds then collide, and a newer world is formed. You need another Pak for this, also. In conclusion, you should remember to get anything you missed in the worlds, since some vital stuff will be gone once you change worlds. =========================================================================== ===========================Part Three: Characters========================== =========================================================================== Here are all the characters. You will be able to control 9 by the end of the game, but only 3 may be in your fighting team at once. The weapon/magic/crystal types will be explained later. You should read about the battle system and magic system before reading this. ================================Cecilia Aldez============================== Character Type: Fighter/Magic User Weapon Types: Broadsword, Long Sword, Dagger, Staff Magic Types: Water (Healing/Indirect), Fire (Attack/Indirect), Earth (Attack/Healing). Special Crystals: Enchant Ruby, Flame Emerald, Forest Diamond, Nature Sapphire. Description: Possessing the gift of intelligence and strength, Cecilia has enough power to cast spells and wield a weapon like any good warrior or mage. She lost her memory at the age of 18, so she does not remember anything about her past experimental life. All she knows is that she has great powers that she must learn to control. Cecilia will gain much experience throughout the adventure, since she is the main character. The player must choose to follow the gift of magic or the gift of strength for her midway through the game. Special Skills: Vigor - Cecilia will build up energy for one turn. On her next turn, she will attack the enemy with a powerful regular attack. She also gets some HP back depending on how much damage she did. Enchantment (Gift of Magic) - Opens up a menu of enchanting spells unique to Cecilia. They are either powerful spells cast on party members or transformational spells cast on Cecilia. All of them cost some MP. Energy (Gift of Strength) - Uses up one to three turns (depending on power of attack) to charge up a powerful technique. They are stronger if Cecilia has attacked/been attacked a lot since she last used it. All of them cost some SP. ================================Vahn Geraldo=============================== Character Type: Fighter/Specialist Weapon Types: Dagger, Short Sword, Glove. Magic Types: Fire (Attack), Wind (Attack/Healing/Indirect), Earth (Indirect) . Special Crystals: Lightning Ruby, Speed Sapphire, Haste Diamond, Charge Emerald. Description: Vahn was training to be a knight for the Azure army, but in a castle siege he was captured by thieves. Therefore he became quite a ragtag character, having strength and speed together. He joined Cecilia as a partner, but had a change of heart and decided to stay with her. He is a valuable ally with some very powerful skills and some unique spells. Vahn gains more power significantly near the end of the game as he becomes a master thief and knight. Special Skills: Steal - Vahn attempts to grab some gold coins from an enemy (player selects the enemy). If he manages that, Vahn will also try to steal the weapon/armor right out of the hands of the enemy! Stealth (Master Thief) - Vahn slips into the shadows and attacks an enemy in attempt to stop its attack. He also tries to steal from the enemy (see above). Steal changes into this. Blade Tech - Opens up a menu of attacks and skills using the dagger or short sword. Most of them cost skill points, but a few cost skill points and magic points. Gained by buying them from knights/teachers scattered around the world. Knight Tech (Master Knight) - Like blade tech, except that most of the attacks or skills have been improved (if they can be) and the cost has been reduced. Blade tech changes into this. ================================Jadger Elsham============================== Character Type: Magic User Weapon Types: Staff, Rod, Dagger. Magic Types: Fire (Attack/Indirect), Water (Indirect), Earth (Attack), Energy (Attack/Indirect), Mind (Attack). Special Crystals: Psionic Diamond, Terra Ruby, Fire Emerald, Elemental Sapphire. Description: A man who studied magic his entire life. He knew basic spells, but could never really get the hang of it, until one day a monster burned down his town. Jadger lashed out with mental and elemental energy to smite the monster. From then on, he gained incredible magical powers. He is the arguably the best offensive magic user in the entire game. Although he has low SP and fairly low HP, he has incredibly high MP. Special Skills: Meditation - Jadger spends a turn to restore MP and a little HP. He is more vulnerable to physical attacks, but resistant to magic attacks. The amount of MP and HP you gain back depends on your level, but certain equipment can increase the effiency of the process. Combination - Opens up a menu of regular magic spells with added effects and power, at a higher cost. For instance, the water spell Disease Water has been upgraded. It keeps the poisoning effect, except with damage added. These spells cost significantly more MP, though. NOTE: The Combination skill is not available until you get to a certain point in the game. ===============================Gray Kheltheim============================== Character Type: Fighter Weapon Types: Glove, Spear, Long Sword. Magic Types: Water (Healing), Wind (Indirect). Special Crystals: Ice Emerald, Power Ruby, Surge Diamond, Tidal Sapphire. Description: Gray was a child born in the wilderness. He learned to use his bare hands in combat, but soon learned to use a spear and long sword. He later decided to be a personal guard for various people. Gray knows how to perform powerful physical attacks and techniques, but he is not too keen with magic. He has very high HP. Special Skills: Surge - Opens up a menu of skills that use the body and not a weapon. None of them use MP, but all of them use some SP. Some of them cannot be performed with certain bulky weapons like Diamond Spear and Diamond Sword. Draining Lance (Spear Only) - A quick hit with the spear that drains the enemy's HP, MP, and SP slowly each turn. It is also a fairly powerful attack. It costs no MP or SP. Combo Sword (Long Sword Only) - The player must press a series of 2, 3, 4, or 5 buttons to do a powerful attack. If you execute a 'correct' combination (once you get one right, you will be told how to do it again if you check the status screen), Gray will hit the enemy. If you mess up, you will lose some SP. ===============================Faria Renesii=============================== Character Type: Specialist/Magic User Weapon Types: Dagger, Staff, Broadsword. Magic Types: Fire (Indirect), Water (Healing/Attack), Wind (Healing), Earth (Healing/Indirect). Special Crystals: Freeze Diamond, Anti Sapphire, Lightning Emerald, Summoner's Ruby. Description: Faria is from a long line of mages and sorceresses. Faria was forced to learn how to contrl the elements, but she never really wanted to, although she was good at it. Her interest was in alchemy and creatures from other worlds. She joins Cecilia because she wants to find a famous alchemist. She joins the party permenantly, though when she finds the alchemist was killed by Galgar. Faria knows some magic, from her alchemy and summoning research, but she has interesting special abilities also. Special Skills: Alchemy - Opens up a list of your items. Faria can mix certain items or even certain equipments to forge better equipment or better items. Fool around with this one. For instance, a Potion and a Mind Heal makes an item that heals both HP and MP. Once you get a combination, it will be recorded in the Status menu. Beast Lore - Takes up a turn or two to call upon creatures from another continent, world, or even dimension. If she succeeds (there is a very small chance she won't) you can choose from availble creatures to summon. They cost MP and a bit of SP to call upon, but are usually powerful. You gain them through advancing levels or learning them from various people who know about monsters. =================================Selt Galvani============================== Character Type: Fighter/Specialist Weapon Types: Katana, Short Sword, Broadsword, Long Sword. Magic Types: Wind (Attack), Earth (Healing), Water (Indirect). Special Crystals: Ice Sapphire, Ninja's Diamond, Forest Ruby, Force Emerald. Description: Selt was born as an honorable Samurai. He once failed to protect one of his comrades from Galgar when he was young, and that comrade died. To recompense, he decided to gain enough money and get enough experience to defeat Galgar, who killed his friend. This is the reason why he joins Cecilia suddenly. Once you get midway through the game, he leaves. But later on you will get him back for good. His ninja-type abilities prove to be very useful, and he knows a balanced library of spells. His only problem is his lack of defensive capability. Special Skills: Ninja Star - Opens up a menu of any ninja star type items you have. There are 5 different ninja stars to throw. Once you acquire one, Selt can duplicate them so he can use it as much as he wants. Select a ninja star to throw it at the cost of a handful of skill points. It always does substantial damage, but some stars cause status ailments or extra damage. Ninja Scroll - Opens up a menu of any ninja scrolls you own. You can buy these, find them, or make them yourself through battle experience (translation: get them by gaining levels). They hold secrets of the ninja, which work usually to help out Selt, but a few of them attack the enemy. One scroll can only be used once per battle. You will get to use it the next battle, though. Scrolls that involve heavy magic will usually cost some MP. ================================Tira Blackswell============================ Character Type: Fighter Weapon Types: Spear, Shortsword, Broadsword. Magic Types: Earth (Healing/Indirect), Wind (Attack/Indirect), Energy (Indirect). Special Crystals: Energy Ruby, Air Sapphire, Combine Diamond, Absorb Emerald. Description: Although she may not look like it, Tira is actually a princess! She never liked all the fancy clothing and fancy language that comes with being a princess, so she decided to go adventuring. However, when she comes home, the entire castle she lived in has been destroyed by Galgar! This is her reason for joining Cecilia. Tira has a lot of physical strength, and high HP and SP. Don't overlook her special abilities, though. Special Skills: Absorb - Tira has the uncanny ability to absorb attacks and recover herself by them! When you select this, Tira will start to glow white. If an enemy attempts to hit her with a physical attack (some special attacks count as this) she will absorb half or more of the damage and gain back some of her HP or if it was a special attack, SP also. A useful ability for battles when you have no items or MP left. Knowledge - Tira can also learn the ways of the monsters she fights. If you encounter a monster (smaller bosses count as monsters) Tira will spend a few turns learning from that monster. She will take hits as usual, but her gauge will not fill up. Once she finishes, a window will pop up saying that "Tira has learned the abilities of [monster]! Choose one to learn." and a list of the monster's abilities will appear. You can then pick an ability to learn permenantly (if it is an ability that she can use, see the Skills section)It will be listed under the 'attack' command as a list (the Attack command will turn up a list that says "Fight" and "Knowledge"). They cost some SP, remember. ==============================Lucille Rossell============================== Character Type: Magic-User Weapon Types: Staff, Rod, Glove. Magic Types: Mind (Attack), Earth (Attack), Water (Healing), Wind (Indirect). Special Crystals: Nature Emerald, Cold Ruby, Intelligence Sapphire, Creation Diamond. Description: Lucille studied with Jadger because she wanted to be just like him. A few years later, she is almost on the same level! It turns out that she was adopted and raised with Jadger, but they were seperated after a week when they were babies and reunited to study. She knows there is a connection between her and Jadger, but she can't quite put her finger on it. She joined Cecilia to observe Jadger, but switched to the party's common cause. Lucille, like Jadger, has a library of good offensive magic, but she also studied healing and indirect magic. Like Jadger, she has very high MP, but below-average HP. Special Skills: Store - Lucille has a very good memory, and can memorize all the features of a monster. If you use this command on a monster (not a major boss) Lucille will memorize one of the monster's attacks and one of the monster's vital stats. You must do this several times to be fully effective. You can use this data through the Create skill. Create - If Lucille has memorized anything about a monster, she can use it here. This opens a menu of monsters that she has used Store at least once on. Select one, and Lucille will spend some MP (more if the monster is higher levelled, less if it isn't) to make a replica of the monster appear! The monster will show its menu after Lucille selects her command. You will have the commands the monster had. The more times you Stored a monster, the more complete the monster will be (higher stats, etc.) ================================Colt Garrows=============================== Character Type: Specialist Weapon Types: Broadsword, Longsword, Staff, Glove. Magic Types: Fire (Attack/Indirect), Earth (Healing), Wind (Attack/Indirect). Special Crystals: Burst Ruby, Charged Diamond, Skill Emerald, Star Sapphire. Description: Colt was a brawler for 10 years of his life. However, Galgar attacked his town in a destructive rampage, therefore destroying his career. Colt practiced with all his heart to learn everything he could. He joined Cecilia to learn even more so he could beat Galgar. Colt is fairly balanced, but his special abilities are very useful to the team. Special Skills: Fist Technique (Glove Only)- Opens up a menu of all the fist-type techniques Colt has. Some of them help the party while others hurt the enemies. Very useful since they don't take up much SP/MP. You can learn them by gaining levels. Star Rage - Colt spends a turn building up energy. On his next turn, this command changes to Heal and Attack changes to Rage. The Heal command heals the whole party's HP/MP/SP some, and also increases their Guard by 10% temporarily. The Rage command executes not one, but three attacks (each one slightly weaker than a normal one). Heal uses up some MP and Rage uses up some SP. =========================================================================== ===========================Part Four: Battle System======================== =========================================================================== The battle system is broken down here. ====================================Turns================================== A character will take a turn once his or her gauge reaches full. This happens slower if the character has been slowed or faster is the character has been hasted. This is the same for monsters. If one of your character's gauges if filled, above their status box a menu appears. There are four options, explained later. Choose one, and your gauge resets to being empty again. ================================Battle Commands============================ In Azure Sky, each character will have his or her own set of commands that are special, than some that everybody has. The essential commands are Attack and Item. The other two spaces for commands can be changed in the Status screen. Press Start out of battle to see the status screen. Select which character and select COMMANDS to set the commands. The commands are: Magic (all characters have it), Skill A (a character's special skill), Skill B (a character's other skill), Defense (blocks a lot of damage from physical hits and strengthens attack next turn), and finally Crystal. Here are their explanations (the special skill explanations are in the Characters section. Attack - Your character delivers an attack with a weapon for fair damage. Item - Opens a menu of the items you are carrying. Defense - Defends against 50% of a physical hit and makes your next Attack stronger. Magic - Opens a menu of magical spells you know. Crystal - Opens a menu of the crystals that character has. They usually can be used without this command, but using them through this will do something special. ================================HP, MP and SP============================== If you have played RPGs before, you should be familiar with HP and MP. HP stands for Hit Points. Once a character's or monster's HP runs out, that character or monster will fall. They will be revived after battle with 1 HP. You can increase your maximum HP through levelling up or some crystals and items. The maximum HP is 9999. MP stands for Magic Points. These are used through casting spells or magic-based techniques. If you don't have enough MP for a spell/technique, you can't use it. You can gain more max MP the same way as gaining HP. The maximum MP is 999. SP stands for skill points. Some attacks use no magic. Instead, they use up SP. Most techniques don't require much SP, since it is hard to acquire. Every 8 levels you will gain two or three SP (characters that depend on techniques may get up to five). Since this way to get SP is slow, you must sometimes find other ways to get SP. Some towns or cities have Learning Centers, where you pay money and for a handful of SPs. At each town this can only happen once for each character, though. After larger bosses or one-time enemies you will usually get an SP or two, also. The other way is to trade for it. Learning Centers will sometimes give extra SP if you give them rare items they ask for. Every turn each character gains back 1 SP. The maximum SP is 99. =================================Vital Stats=============================== Besides HP, MP, and SP, there are a few other statistics you should take a look at. Attack Strength is a measure of how much damage a character can deal out. Your hits will be stronger with more of this. Warrior-type characters gain the most of this. Guard is a measure of how much damage a character can take. You will take less damage with a high Guard rating. Warrior-type characters gain gain the most of this. Magic Strength is a measure of how good a character is with magic. ALL spells will be more effective if this rating is high. Magic-users gain the most of this. Magic Guard is a measure of a character's resistance to magic. Spells will be less effective on a character with a lot of this (only enemy spells will be less effective). Magic-users gain the most of this. Aim is not a measure, it is a percentage. The higher the percentage is, the better chance of striking the enemy with anything succesfully. It can go up to 90% (equipment and crystals raise this up to 100%). Speed is a measure of how fast a character is. If a character has high speed, him or her can evade any sort of attack more easily. Specialists gain the most of this. Excluding Aim, the highest any stat can go up to is 199. ================================Gaining Levels============================= Although a character can have the best weapon and armor available, they will still be weaklings without gaining levels. Cecilia starts out at level 1, with low statistics. Some characters start at higher levels, and are therefore stronger. The higher a character's level, the stronger all around they will be. At some levels a character may gain a new technique for one of their special skills. Levels are gained through battle experience (fighting enemies), but at some points in the game the characters may get a freebie. Characters you are not using will also gain levels, but much more slowly. The maximum level possible is 199. =========================================================================== ============================Part Five: Magic System======================== =========================================================================== The magic system in Azure Sky is fairly different than any other. It is explained part by part here. =================================Magic Types=============================== Their are 6 different elements of magic, and up to three different types of spells for each element (some elements have only one or two). Fire is a mainly attacking element, but it has no healing type spells. Earth is a fairly strong attacking element, and it has all three types of spells. Wind is another all around element, with balanced spell types. Water is a healing-type element, but it has attack spells too. Mind magic is very powerful, and can only attack. Energy magic is mainly attack based, but has indirect spells. Attack magic deals damage to either one enemy, a few enemies, or all enemies, possibly with added effects. Indirect magic either helps out the party or hurts the enemy, but not directly (it doesn't just do damage or just heal damage). Healing magic heals the party's HP or sometimes SP, or protects the party. ================================Gaining Magic============================== There are two ways to get magic in the game. The first way, and the easiest, is to gain magic levels for crystals. To learn any type of spell, you must have the appropriate crystal equipped (see Crystals section). Every battle you gain a little bit of magic experience points for the equipped magic crystal. Harder battles give more than regular ones and boss boss battles yield tons. Once those points reach 1000, you will gain a magic level. You will be prompted with a box that says: "[Name] gained a magic level! What type of spell to learn?" There are 3 types: Attack, Indirect, and Healing. This prompt won't appear for characters that only have one type of spell for an element. After you choose a spell type, you will gain a spell. The other way to get magic is to learn it from special crystals. All characters come with at least one special crystal that, when equipped, will teach a spell(s). You must gain levels (not magic levels) with the special crystal equipped and you will get the spell(s) over time. If you are maximum level, than you will get all of a character's unique spells automatically. ==============================Casting Magic================================ If a character is equipped with the Magic command, that character can cast magic spells he or she has learned. If you have enough MP to cast the spell, than the character will start to cast. Depending on how strong the spell is, it may take up to 3 turns to cast a spell. Weaker spells or spells that are supplemented with crystals will cast instantly or with little wait. A character is more vunerable to physical attack by 15% while casting a spell, but their magic defense goes up by 15% also. Whenever a spell is cast, a character may gain one to three magic experience points. ========================================================================== ==============================Part Six: Spells============================ ========================================================================== This is a full list of every elemental spell (not crystal or special spells), how much MP it costs, and what it does. It is arranged by element. The Mind and Energy spells have slightly less spells than other groups. ==================================Fire Magic=============================== Spell Type Name MP Used Description [Attack] Spark 9 There are basically three types: special crystals, magic crystals, and effect crystals. They are explained and listed here. ===============================Special Crystals============================ Each character has 4 of his or her own special crystals. There are quite a few, which can be earned by buying or finding. Only people with that element and type can use certain crystals (for example, Vahn can't use a Mind Ruby). A character can equip only one Magic Crystal at once. If you use the Crystal command in battle, and you select a Magic Crystal, the crystal will do an elemental attack from the element of that crystal (they have no names). The All Diamond and Ultimate Crystal will do a multiple element attack. Fire Ruby: Teaches Attack Fire spells. Fire Diamond: Teaches Indirect Fire spells. Water Sapphire: Teaches Attack Water spells. When equipped, they either increase stats right off the bat, improve the gain of stats per level, or give special abilities. All characters can use any Effect Crystal. A character may equip only one Effect Crystal at once. Next to what the crystal does when equipped, is what it does when used with the Crystal command. Life Diamond: Increases HP by 20% when equipped/Heals a character. Health Ruby: Increases HP by 35% when equipped/Heals a character more. Although a character/monsrer can have several good or bad conditions at once, some conditions will cancel out eachother (you can't have Slow and Haste at once). Slow: Slows down the victim's gauge. Haste: Speeds up the victim's gauge. Poison: Continually damages the victim. Burn: Damages a victim for 3 turns with increasing damage. Protect: Physical attacks do less damage. Shield: Magical attacks do less damage. Paralyze: The victim cannot do anything except cast spells. Dead: The victim cannot do anything. Mute: The victim cannot cast spells. Immobile: The victim's gauge does not move. Haste x2: Victim's gauge moves twice as fast. Torture: Victim is seriously damaged every turn and cannot do anything. =========================================================================== ===========================Part Eleven: Items============================== =========================================================================== Azure Sky has a variety of different potions, tonics, foods, and mixtures that can be used to help the party. Nerve Potion: Raises a character's Aim/Speed to 100% ==================================Alchemy================================== Faria has the ability to mix the items listed above into other items. Here are the combinations possible. Once an item is created, any character can use it. Potion + Mind Heal = Tonic. M Potion + Mind Heal+ = M Tonic. L Potion + Magic Potion = L Tonic. X Potion + Migraine Killer = X Tonic. Rejuvinator + Ether = Mega Tonic. Potion + Potion = Big Potion. M Potion + M Potion = Huge Potion. L Potion + L Potion = King Potion. X Potion + X Potion = King Potion+. Rejuvinator + Rejuvinator = Elixer. Mind Heal + Mind Heal = King Mind Heal. Mind Heal+ + Mind Heal+ = Mega Mind Heal. Magic Potion + Magic Potion = Mana Drink. Migraine Killer + Migraine Killer = Magic Tonic. Ether + Ether = Super Ether. Rock Potion + Shield Potion = Guard Tonic. Strength Potion + Mind Potion = Attack Drink. Calm Potion + Invis Potion = Nerve Potion. Elixer + Super Ether = Ultra Tonic. Note: When mixing weapons, the only way to get a different weapon is to have both weapons the same type. If you mix them, it makes the weapon have the average attack power of the 2 weapons, and both special effects of each weapon (if any). The name changes to Spec. [Weapon Type] 1, 2, 3, etc. So if you have a broad sword with a fire element and a broad sword that increases HP by 5%, you get a Special Broadsword 1 that is fire elemental and increases your HP by 5%. =========================================================================== ===========================Part Twelve: Walkthrough======================== =========================================================================== Here is the complete walkthrough to all of Azure Sky. It is written in Chapters, and in script form (Cecilia: No!!!). Read and enjoy. =========================================================================== ============================Chapter 1: Awakening=========================== =========================================================================== The game opens into a black screen. A gradient blue text box appears at the top of the screen. Voice: It is time. Execute Program 37, computer. A tube appears in the center of the blackness. It is filled with green liquid and a teenage girl floats in it. A man walks near the tube. Computer: Program 37 activating. Systems online. Man: Good. Extract DNA from the specimen, computer. The screen comes into full view. The player sees the tube in the center, with a man standing next to it. There are various other tubes and computers throughout the room. A computer screen flashes and 2 needles come into the main tube and start to draw blood from the girl inside. Man: That is enough. I have what I need. Terminate the specimen. Make sure that if she manages to live, she will not remember me. If she does, the plan cannot be executed. Computer: Setting coordinates to Isle of Taranda. Launching specimen. Man: You may go offline now, computer. The tube is launched through the ceiling of the laboratory and the computer shuts down. The man walks off. The screen darkens and another text box appears. Voice: Are you all right? Wake up! This time, the screen lights up to the girl in the tube lying on a beach. A young man is trying to wake her up. Girl: Where am I? Who are you? I... The girl starts talking, but falls back to the sand. Man: Great. At least she is alive... I'll take her to the town. The man picks up the girl and carries her off from the beach. The girl stirs. Girl: Ow... my head hurts. Who are you? Where am I? Man: Slow down! You are on Taranda Island. And I'm... A name screen pops up. The default name is Vahn, but you can always change it. Select letters with A, delete with B. Finish by pressing start. I will use the name Vahn for this walkthrough. Vahn: Vahn Geraldo. Hey, what is your name? Girl: I can't quite remember. I think its... Another name screen pops up. The default name is Cecilia, but you can always change it. Select letters with A, delete with B. Finish by pressing start. I will use the name Cecilia for this walkthrough. Cecilia: Cecilia Aldez. I don't remember where I'm from though... Vahn: That's OK. At least you don't have complete amnesia. Anyway, we're at my town now. Why don't you have a look around? The two arrive at the town and Vahn leaves. You can walk around with the joystick and run by holding Z. Talk to the villagers (with A) and learn more about Taranda Island. Cecilia learns that she is in the town of Albaster. Visit Vahn's house (the biggest one) and engage in conversation. Vahn: What do you think of it? Pretty small, right? Cecilia: Its certainly a nice town. Where are your family? Vahn: They're... not here. Now that you have looked around, why don't we go for a walk and we'll see if you can remember anything. Cecilia: Alright. Vahn leaves his house and you should follow. He goes into what looks like a forest of palm trees. Follow him. Vahn: C'mon! The sun is setting. After you talk to Vahn where he is standing, the two will start to talk again. Vahn: Do you remember how you got here? Cecilia: Hmm. Not really... Vahn: Are you sure? Try harder. Cecilia: Wait. I seem to remember a man. He was talking to a computer... then I found myself on the beach. Vahn: Well, that's good enough. Hey, what's that? Vahn points to a boulder that seems to be moving. It suddenly bursts open to reveal a monster made of rock, shaped like a human. Vahn: Cecilia! Get back! It's a golem! Cecilia: What? Vahn: Legend has it that our ancestors on this island created golems to defend themselves. However, once they died, the golems were not controlled anymore and turned themselves into rocks. I didn't know the legend was true! The monster roars and a fight ensues. Note: Cecilia comes with 2 magic crystals, the Fire Ruby and the Water Emerald. =========================================================================== ===========================Boss Battle: Golem============================== =========================================================================== Suggested Level: N/A HP: 1500 MP: 300 SP: 70 Gold Gained: 500 Weakness: Water Resists: Fire Absorbs: Earth Attacks: Earth Roar, Hard Punch, Tremor. Treasure: 2 SP for each character. Method: The first boss battle! Cecilia has about 500HP/45MP/10SP at level 4, and Vahn has 700HP/24MP/16SP at level 6. Cecilia's Spark spells won't hurt Golem much, but Vahn's X-Slash attack should do about 125 HP, while Cecilia's regular attack will do up to 80 HP. When Cecilia's HP gets low, use Vigor for about 120 HP worth of damage. It will also heal Cecilia for about 50-60 HP. Prepare to use Heal Drop when needed, although you won't be able to cast it much. Hard Punch doesn't do much more than Golem's regular attack (about 50 damage), but Earth Roar deals about 90 HP. Tremor is another thing you should watch out for, since it hits both team members for around 40 damage. If you think you can spare the time, use Vahn's Steal ability to get extra gold. All in all, this shouldn't be an incredibly tough battle. NOTE: You won't be able to win this battle plotwise unless you cast at least one spell. NOTE 2: Cecilia is automatically equipped with Attack, Magic, Vigor, and Item. Vahn is automatically equipped with Attack, Steal, Blade Tech, and Item. Vahn and Cecilia stand panting over their fallen foe. Vahn: Where did you learn magic? You're pretty strong. Cecilia: I don't remember... Vahn: Nevermind. Well we had better go back to Albaster. Go to my house and rest. I'll tell this to the village counsel. You have control of Cecilia again. You can talk to various people to learn more on how to play (magic, skills, etc.) A few will even give you a Potion or Mind Heal. They only give it once though. After you feel you have talked to enough people, go to Vahn's house and go into the bed. The screen fades out. ============================================================================ =====================Chapter Two: Learn From the Past======================= ============================================================================ The chapter opens up with what seems to be the start of the first chapter, except it is an first person point of view (Cecilia's). You hear and see the whole first scene again, except when Cecilia is about to be ejected, she screams. The scene cuts back to Vahn's house in the morning. Vahn: What's wrong! Wake up! Cecilia: What? Where am I? Vahn: Oh no, not again. I heard a scream! Cecilia: It was nothing... don't worry. Vahn: Did you get your memory back? Cecilia: No, but I dreamt I was in some sort of laboratory in a test tube! Vahn: Weird. Hey, remember that gold we found when we beat the golem? Cecilia: What about it? Vahn: I say we spend it around here. They have some pretty good stuff here for sale. Just don't go into the palm forest, the counsel says monsters are starting to invade. Cecilia: Let's go! A text box appears in the center of the screen. Text: ***Vahn joined the party!*** Now that you can control both Cecilia and Vahn, visit the Weapon shop and buy whatever you want. They sell all types of weapons, but Vahn uses a dagger or short sword with ease and Cecilia is better off with a long sword or broadsword. Once you are outfitted, you can visit the armor shop and buy a couple Leather Vests or Copper Vests. Once you are done, feel free to check out the forest and gain some experience. You will get a conversation after a few minutes of walking around. Vahn: You know what, we could both use a little training. Why don't we head for the forest? Cecilia: Good idea. You sure we'll be okay? Vahn: Of course! Nothing me and you couldn't handle. Cecilia: By the way, I was thinking about who I really am lately and... Vahn: You're Cecilia Aldez... what else is there to know? Cecilia: No, I mean my history. My can't I remember anything? Where did I come from? Tell me what you know about me when I fell on the beach. Vahn: Well, you started to say something like 'I must'... then you passed out. Cecilia: Right. I remember that part. But what about my dreams? I want to know everything. Including why I am only 18 years old and I know how to fight and use magic! Vahn: I have an idea. We should go to Archknight, the city of knowledge. If there is anywhere in the world that you could find out more about special talents and dreams like your's, it is there. Cecilia: Than let's go after we train here! The enemies in the forest are: Mutant Birds, Mini Golems, Serpents, and Flying Fish. Most of them have around 200 HP, excluding the Mini Golems who have about 350 HP. A few rounds of regular attacks will finish off any enemy, although X-Slash and Spark will speed up the battles. These enemies do not yield much Gold (only 20-30), but you should be able to reach level 5/7 fairly soon. The enemies also give about 4 magic experience each, and each Spark or Heal Drop spell casts will give another 1 or 2 experience. If you really want to, go for the next magic level. I advise learning either the Fire Needle or Healing Tide spell. By the way, you can't give away Cecilia's magic crystals, so Vahn can't use magic yet. If you are going for the next magic level, remember to equip the right crystal. After you finish your level building, simply go back into the town. Vahn: Whew! I'm tired. Cecilia: That's odd, I feel fine. You can go back, I wanted to ask the counsel something. Vahn: All right. I'll be at my house. To advance further in the plot, you should go to the house with elaborate decorations on it. There are a group of people standing outside. Cecilia gets behind a tree and listens to their conversation. Counsel Member 1: ...nothing but trouble! Counsel Member 2: Be easier on her, she is new here. Counsel Member 3: No! Did you notice the flow of monsters? The golem? Counsel Member 2: Coincendence. Counsel Member 1: Listen. She is becoming quick friends with Vahn! And he defends this village! If he leaves with her, who knows what will happen to us! Now, do you want mythical creatures invading our town? We will have a vote. Who says 'yes', the girl leaves? Counsel Member 2: I have to say yes... the villagers can't be endangered. Counsel Member 3: You have my vote. Yes. Counsel Member 2: Than it is settled. We will notify Vahn tomorrow. Until then... Cecilia runs off to outside of Vahn's house. Cecilia: Can they mean me? I didn't mean to do any of that stuff... Vahn comes out of the house and starts to talk. Vahn: What's wrong? Cecilia: I think the counsel decided to kick me out of the village! Vahn: ... Cecilia: Oh no! You agree with them? Vahn: Of course not! But if I leave with you, I can't defend this place. Cecilia: That's what they said! Can't anybody else do it? Vahn: Maybe if we... We should get some rest now. Come on. Cecilia: Fine. Good night. The two both enter the house and both go to sleep in their respective beds. Another flashback occurs, this one is from Vahn. It seems to be a siege on a castle, with a bunch of knights as the defenders against a group of thieves and archers. Vahn, younger and only wielding a dagger, is one of the defenders. Knight 1: Watch out! There are too many of them! Knight 2: We need somebody to distract them while we get help! Knight 3: But who? A rain of arrows comes down on the defenders and a few fall. The thieves advance. Vahn: I'll do it! Knight 2: Get back here! Knight 3: It's no use, he's already there. Poor kid. Thief 1: Ha! Don't kill him, guys. Thief 2: Why not? Thief 1: I have plans for him... heh heh heh. Vahn: Nooooo! The thieves carry him off. The flashback continues as the player controls Vahn. Thief 1: Kid! I spared your life 'cause you got potential. Vahn: What? Thief 2: In other words, you are going to become one of us. Vahn: I don't want to do that! Thief 2: Are you sure? The second thief shines the light of his dagger in Vahn's face. Vahn: Ok. I'd rather be a thief than a dead body. What should I do first? Thief 1: There is this monster that keeps wanderin' around here. Kill it and we'll give you some gold and a weapon. Vahn: Right! Thief 1: And Sern will come with you. Sern: Yes. We leave now. The player will control Vahn in the flashback. Leave the hideout and go out to where a small beast is wandering around. Try to talk to it and a fight begins. =========================================================================== ==============================Boss Battle: Rexel=========================== =========================================================================== Suggested Level: N/A HP: 100 MP: 0 SP: 10 Gold Gained: 0 Weakness: None Resists: None Absorbs: None Attacks: Claw Cut, Multi Claw. Treasure: None. Method: This battle should be very, very easy. The level 1 Vahn has only 280HP, but Sern has 1750. Vahn should use his regular attack for 30 damage, while Sern should use his defense attack to take hits for Vahn. If you use the attack/defend method, you will win the battle in a few turns. If you die, you simply are back at the hideout and you go back and fight Rexel again. Sern and Vahn return back to the thieves' hideout. Sern: The kid did a nice job. Thief 1: Good! Here's 100 Gold coins. Vahn: Wow! I've never had that much money. Thief 2: Get used to it, we deal with pocket change like that every day. Thief 1: Your next mission is to... The screen fades out and Vahn awakens. Vahn: Those were the days. The screen fades out again, and the chapter ends. ============================================================================ ========================Chapter Three: The Journey========================== ============================================================================ This chapter begins in the laboratory where the game started. There are two men this time. Man 1: I have extracted the DNA of our specimen. Man 2: Good, Darril. Now that we have this, all we need is Galgar's corpse. Darril: How will we get that, Faros? Faros: The only one who has that much power is the girl. She can find his corpse. Darril: Faros, I terminated her. Faros: What!? Find her! And find her quickly. Galgar is not patient. Darril: Yes sir. Darril walks off the screen while Faros stays and types in something on the computer. The screen switches to Albaster town again. Vahn: Good morning, Cecilia! Cecilia: Morning, Vahn. I didn't have any dreams tonight. How about you? Vahn: ... Vahn: No, I didn't. Remember I was telling you about my idea? Cecilia: Yeah? Vahn: I know someone in the town of Elms that could probably defend this town, if he was paid. Cecilia: If he was paid? Vahn: He's kind of a mercenary, so he demands money for everything. Cecilia: Oh. Than we should get going! Vahn: Ok! Go through the forest and once you come out, I'll give you more directions. Finally, the player can control the characters again. You might want to check up on the shops again and purchase whatever weapons/armor you haven't already bought. The 400 gold Mind Heals will come in handy if you can afford them, while the 25 gold Potions are essential. If you need more money/levels, go fight in the forest for awhile. You should have at least 15 potions before you go. If you are willing to spend the time advancing her, Cecilia could use one more spell for the upcoming journey. Once you are ready to go, proceed through the forest and leave out the exit (previously blocked by trees). Vahn can now get his next Blade Technique, Fire Cut. To get it, you must meet two requirements. First of all, Vahn must be at least level 9. Second, you must have 500 Gold. Go to Albaster and in between the two straw houses, there should be a man. If you have done those 2 things, than he will take 500 Gold and teach Vahn Fire Cut, a useful attack that you should have for later on. After you leave the forest, you will be on the Overworld (congratulations). Vahn will start to speak. Vahn: If you need anything else, just go back into the forest south of where we are standing. Elms is northeast of here. If we have to stop along the way, about halfway there is another town called Brinstone. Lead the way! You should listen to Vahn's directions. If you want some extra Gold and experience, walk north until you get to the mountains. Go inside the cave along them. The enemies (Rockball, Sprite, Rockmage) are all strong against Fire and Earth (except for Sprites), and they all have about 750HP (Rockballs have 850) beating one yields a lot of experience and up to 20 magic experience (Rockmages). They all give about 100 Gold each. These enemies, however, are very strong and most of their attacks do around 150HP, and their special attacks do up to 250HP. The best strategy is to chip away at the rock-type monsters' HP with X-Slash, Vigor, and regular attacks. Although any of these won't do more than 100 damage, you will still eventually beat it. Heal Drop is very useful for advancing here, so make sure you have enough MP to use it. You can sometimes Steal good weapons if you have the command equipped. If you gain a level or so here, your characters' vital stats should look like this: Vahn-Level 10-1050HP-65MP-18SP, Cecilia-Level 9-900HP-95MP-12SP. The overworld monsters should not be tough, if you either gained Fire Cut, or built up your levels in the forest or the cave. If you haven't done either of these things, the battles will be tough since the monsters usually have partners that heal them (Spikepines and Galturtles are 2 monsters that are companions). You get a little more gold and experience than you do in the forest, but not as much as you do in the cave. Once you arrive at Brinstone, you should rest at the inn for the expensive price of 100 Gold per night. If you haven't already, a swordsman in this town will teach Vahn Fire Cut (you still have to be level 9 and have 500 Gold). The weapons here are good, especially the Rune Sword (broadsword), the Steel Dagger (dagger), and the Quick Sword (short sword). The armor is good, but if you travel to Elms you can get better. Feel free to leave and continue to Elms. From Brinstone to Elms is a long walk, and the enemies will slowly drain your HP and MP. For maximum efficiency, you should try to use regular attacks for both characters so that they do not waste SP/MP. Vigor is a great way to gain back lost HP, and you may want Vahn to simply Defend or use Potions on himself while Cecilia takes out all the monsters and heals up. You may gain another magic level if you haven't already. There are so many choices of spells, but you may want to start going for multi-enemy fire spells. Fire Barrier is also a good spell if you have already learned Slow Burn. Anyway, once you get to Elms, you are in for another conversation. Cecilia: So, this is Elms? It's huge! Vahn: Yeah. In case you want to shop around, there is a center with all sorts of goods in the middle of this place. Cecilia: I see. But what about your friend? Vahn: Hmm. He lives in the center of the town in a tent. Cecilia: All right. Oh... my head again! Vahn: What's wrong? Cecilia: I'm... blacking... out... At this point, Cecilia falls on the ground, and a helpless Vahn stands over her. Vahn: Great. Is there a doctor in this town I wonder? Cecilia, I'll be right back. Now, you have to quickly find a doctor in less than 5 minutes. If you can't do it, Cecilia dies and you get a game over. You should go north to the end of the village, than east 2 houses. Go into the house with the gate with the spikes on it. Vahn: Is there a doctor here?! Man: Hello? Yes, I'm a doctor. Vahn: You've got to help me! A friend of mine is near the entrance to the town unconcious! Doctor: Alright. Let's go. Vahn automatically leads the doctor to where Cecilia is. Doctor: This might take awhile. I have to administer some strong potions and herbs. Please, come to my house while you wait. Vahn, the doctor, and Cecilia travel to the doctor's house. Vahn is sitting nervously in a chair. The screen switches to Cecilia and the doctor. Cecilia: Moan... no... no... Doctor: I wonder what she's dreaming... Yet another dream sequence pops up. This time, the player sees a young Cecilia sitting in a chair in a small room with nothing in it except for a window and a metal box. Darril looks through it and says something through a PA system. Darril: Cecilia! I order you to crush that metal box any way you can. Cecilia: No... you want to hurt me. Darril: Do it! Out of the floor comes a metallic tentacle which whips Cecilia in the chest. Cecilia: ... Darril: Now listen to me. You *will* crush that box. Cecilia: Yes, Darril. Cecilia first gets up, then takes the box in one hand and squeezes it. It amazingly crumples under the pressure. Darril: Ha ha ha! Good. Faros will be pleased with your progress Mrs. Aldez. Here's another box. Another box pops up out of the floor. Cecilia: How should I crush it? Darril: Use your head, if you know what I mean. This time, Cecilia closes her eyes and outstretches her hands. Suddenly, after a few seconds, the box simply crumples up and explodes into pieces. Darril: Ah! Going for extra credit are we? You may return to your pen, Cecilia. Oh, and one more thing... there is no way out! Ha ha ha! The door you entered has dissappeared! Good luck! As Cecilia looks about frantically, the player hears a scream. The flashback quickly ends and the screen centers on Vahn and the doctor, looking at the screaming Cecilia. Doctor: It was only a dream! Calm down! Cecilia: Phew... thanks. That was a really bad nightmare. Vahn: What was it about? Cecilia: I was in a room crushing metal boxes. And the guy from my other nightmare was there, too. Vahn: I'll remember that... anyway, thanks for everything doc. Cecilia, we should get going. Cecilia: OK. Goodbye, doctor! Doctor: Goodbye Vahn, Cecilia. The partners leave and the screen fades. And so, chapter 3 ends with some questions answered and some questions asked, and a trek completed. But now what? Read on! =========================================================================== ========================Chapter 4: Into the Storm========================== =========================================================================== This chapter begins with Vahn and Cecilia standing outside the doctor's house. Cecilia: Thanks for helping me out. But why? I'm just a stranger. Vahn: Of course you're not! We've been travelling together haven't we? Cecilia: What does that mean? Vahn: I'd say we're partners. Cecilia: *Laughs* Vahn: I was serious! Cecilia: Sorry. Well whatever you want to call it, I still feel guilty about leaving your town unguarded. Let's find that friend of yours. Again, the player is in control. Feel free to shop around first with the money gained from fighting on the overworld map and in the cave. You can buy slightly better weapons here than in Brinstone, but the armor is much better. Outfit both characters with the best armor you can buy. You can also buy your first crystals from the first crystal shop. You can buy the Earth Diamond (Healing/Indirect), Wind Ruby (Healing/Indirect), and the Life Diamond (max HP up while equipped). Remember, only ONE magic and special crystal at once! These crystals are super-expensive, however, and cost around 5000 Gold each! Once you are done shopping, go to the center of town and go into the brown tent. A man with a mask and a katana in his hand is in there. Vahn: Hello? Man: Who is there? Vahn: Vahn. Man: Who is beside you? Vahn: Cecilia Aldez. She's my partner. Cecilia: Hi! Man: I've heard about you somewhere... where was it... Vahn: Nevermind that! Anyways, I need somebody to guard Albaster while I am gone. I will give you my life savings. Cecilia: !!! Man: How much would that be? Vahn: 15,744 Gold. Exactly. Cecilia: What?! Man: Sounds like a deal. No monster will get through me. I will take the money from your house. Vahn: It's a deal then. I will see you when I return to resume my position. But one thing, I never knew your name. Man: My name changes as I do. But you may call me... Another name-me screen. Do this just like you did with Cecilia and Vahn. The default name is Selt, which I will use for this walkthrough. Selt: Selt Galvani. Now I must go to Albaster. I will not fail like I did before. Vahn: What? Selt: ... Selt: Goodbye. Selt leaves with Cecilia and Vahn staying in the tent. Vahn: Great! Now we can go to Archknight. First we have to get over the Elms Mountain Range to the north of Albaster, though. Once we do, It's not far to Archknight. Right before the Mountain Range is Greenburke, a town I think we can stay in for awhile. Cecilia: Great! Let's go. Now you can move again. Buy a lot of healing items, then set off for the Elms Mountain Range to the west. If you haven't already, the cave is a great place to advance your levels now that you have better magic/equipment. Do you remember the stone blocking the tunnel in the cave in the first room? It's not there anymore. Proceed through the tunnel, getting any treasure (usually in brown bags) you find. The enemies are the same as before, but as you proceed through the tunnel you may find them in bigger groups. You should make sure you get 2 very important treasures: one is in a small alcove with a distinctive large crack in it. That one is Cecilia's and Vahn's first special crystals, the Speed Sapphire and Enchant Ruby. Equip them. The next treasure is in a chest in the left side of the tunnel, with 2 boulders on either side. Inside is a tough monster. The monster (Rage Demon) has a very high amount of HP (4000), but not too much defense. It has a very strong physical attack, but it also has a special attack that poisons and hurts one character. Fire Cut and X-Slash are your best bet for Vahn, which do about 600 and 450HP, respectively. Regular attacks do 300HP. Cecilia's Fire spells are effective also, especially if you have the second one which does roughly 500HP. Spark will do if you don't have Fire Needle, which does about 350HP. Just heal the damage with Heal Drop or items and keep fighting. Beating this monster yields a lot of experience, 18 magic experience, some gold, and most importantly, a 2 SP maximum increase for each character! Once you get to the end of the tunnel, there is a save point. Rest, save, and try to get to the exit. A monster breaks out of the wall. Vahn: What the?! Cecilia: Get ready! It's coming this way! =========================================================================== =========================Boss Battle: Rock Weapon========================== =========================================================================== Suggested Level: 11-12 HP: 8500 MP: 777 SP: 99 Gold Gained: 2500 Weakness: Water Resists: Fire Absorbs: Earth Attacks: Rock Fall, Tremor, X-Defense, Headbutt, Earth Bend. Treasure: 2 SP for each character Method: The first 'major' boss battle in the game. Remember, Cecilia cannot do much damage with Spark or Fire Needle. The only fire spell that hurts it a lot is Fireball. If you are built up, however, the Enchant Ruby will usually make Fire Needle do enough damage. Fire Needle, when built up, should do at least 350HP each turn. Fireball can do up to 450HP. If you feel the need to, you can do regular attacks for 200HP and use your MP for healing, but supplement them with spells. Vahn can attack for 300HP, but his X-Slash does around 500HP. You can attempt to hamper Rock Weapon with slowing spells (Wind-Indirect and Earth-Indirect both have slow spells) or protect characters with Fire Barrier (it won't do much, but it counters hits with about 100HP of damage). Disease Water and Sapping Tide (if you have either) will put a dent in Rock Weapon's plans. If you decided not to equip Magic for Vahn and equipped Steal, lucky you! Besides getting 300+ Gold every Steal, you have a small (1/50) chance that you will steal a very good sword, the Rock Sword. Equip it after battle! Rock Weapon has 2 spells and 3 special attacks, but he is fairly slow. His regular attack does 200-300 damage, which he uses often after a special tech or spell. If you see the message "Rock Weapon grabbed the earth itself" than prepare for a massive spell: Tremor or Rock Fall. Tremor does about 350 damage to each character, and Rock Fall does up to 500 damage to one character. Heal as quick as you can with Water spells or items, and counter before he attacks again. The Earth Bend attack will usually Paralyze a character and damage them for 300HP. Headbutt simply does around 400HP. X-Defense is basically the start to a chain of events. Once you get Rock Weapon down to 1000HP, he will use X-Defense and start charging. Once this happens, your physical attacks do almost no damage, and get reflected, hitting for 200-300HP each time. Your only hope is magic, or special attacks. A counter appears above Rock Weapon's head. It starts at 100, and goes down by the seconds. Every 10 seconds, it does 111 more damage than before (for instance, it starts at 0, than 111, 222, 333, 444) up until it hits 0. If you haven't killed him, he will do a very strong attack called Terra Superior, in which he leaves himself with 1HP and fires off gigantic boulders which do 9999 damage each time they hit (there are hundreds). Too bad... you lose if you haven't killed him by now. But if you DID win, congratulations on your first major win! NOTE: No, you can't get Terra Superior for yourself. After Rock Weapon is lying on the ground, the characters start to talk. Cecilia: Phew! What was that thing? Vahn: Probably a transformed golem. I wonder why those things keep popping up? Cecilia: Don't look at me... Vahn: Somehow, I don't think it's you. Anyway, we should get out of this cave and back on to grass. From here, its just a little more north to the Elms Mountain Range. Heal up your characters in case you have a random battle. Simply leave the tunnel and you will be back on the overland. You can see north to the Elms Mountain Range, but you should stop by the town of Greenburke first. The enemies in this section of the overworld are fairly strong. Most of them have around 950HP, and the most dangerous is the Beserk Serpents, much like the Serpents in the palm forest. Enemies here can be downed by repeated spells or special attacks, but plain regular attacks won't do much damage. Once you get to Greenburke, shop around. The weapon shop has a few new varieties of weapons, such as the Staff and Rod. You can buy better swords etc. here also. With the money from the cave, you should have enough to outfit both characters. The armor here is slightly weaker than what your characters (should) have on, but they have special effects. Energy Armor heals your HP a little every turn, Spike Vest adds to your Attack rating, and Mana Mail increases your max MP by 15% when equipped. The crystal shop has some of the crystals from Elms, but most importantly, it has the Fire Ruby. Now Vahn can use attack Fire spells! Don't forget if you think one character doesn't need another magic level, switch around the crystals (they keep their magic experience). There is a new effect crystal for sale which you may want to look at, the Magic Emerald. It is the same as the Life Diamond, except it increases MP. Paired with the Mana Mail you get +30% MP! However, you will be losing HP on this deal. Vahn should get the Spike Vest or keep his old armor with the Life Diamond, and Cecilia should get the Magic Emerald with either the Mana Mail, the Energy Armor, or her old armor (your choice, they are all good). Once you are done, and you try to leave, Vahn will talk to Cecilia. Vahn: Wait. I'm a little tired. Why don't we visit the Inn? Cecilia: I guess I'm tired too. Lead the way. The previously locked Inn is now open and Vahn takes Cecilia there. Vahn checks in with the Innkeeper and each character goes to bed upstairs. The screen fades, but then lights up to another flashback. This one is Cecilia's again. She is walking handcuffed with Darril and Faros on either side of her. Faros: Did she pass the test? Darril: Yes. With flying colors, also. Faros: Good job Darril. Cecilia, come with me. Cecilia: No! I won't be coaxed by you. Darril: I suggest you listen to Faros, Cecilia. Faros: Make her listen, Darril. Darril: Ha ha ha! Cecilia: NO!!!! Suddenly, Cecilia throws her arms back and the screen flashes. It centers back on Cecilia, now appearing to be some sort of a super-being. Her hair is glowing white and her body surges with energy. A surge of energy crackles like lightning through her hands. Cecilia: Now I am freed! Faros: What's this? Darril: I believe she has transformed into an Ell, sir. Faros: An Ell? So she has more power than I imagined. I will have to take care of her myself. A battle scene takes shape and Cecilia in her new form takes a fighting stance. Faros stands arrogant and starts to laugh. This battle is automatic. Cecilia: You won't experiment on me anymore! Faros: Oh really, now? How about this! Faros raises his hand and a small red ball appears on it. It gets larger and larger, then Faros throws it at Cecilia with a trail of white and blue flames following it. Cecilia reels from the blow and loses 500HP from her 9999HP. Cecilia: *Yells in pain* Faros: Listen to me! Cecilia: N-never! Cecilia then surges her energy again and a white bolt of power strikes out at Faros. He takes 1 damage and laughs. Cecilia: What? Faros: Give up, Mrs. Aldez. Cecilia: No! Faros: Fine. But I warned you. Faros then conjures up a huge, blazing ball of energy. It grows huge and the screen flashes to an outside view of the world. The player sees the ball building until it grows that you can see it from space! Faros then shoots it up into the air and the screen flashes back to the battle. The player hears a screeching sound and the ball comes down on Cecilia causing a tremendous shockwave and crater. Cecilia takes 9999999 damage (beyond belief, in other words). Cecilia falls. Cecilia: I... will... never... surrender... Faros: Ah ha ha ha! Cecilia wakes up from her dream sweating. Vahn wakes up too. Vahn: You OK? Cecilia: I had a really long dream. Vahn: You know what... you should tell me the whole one this time. I'm trying to figure out what they mean. Cecilia: Sure. It's hard for me to remember my dreams. Here's what happened....... The screen fades out, and fades in shortly. Cecilia: ... that's it. Vahn: Ok. Let's go back to sleep. Remember, you can do what you want in your dreams. Don't let them control you. Cecilia: Right. Good night. Both characters go to sleep and wake up in the morning. Vahn yawns and starts a conversation to Cecilia. Vahn: Hey, I was thinking. I think I can tell you what my opinion is on your dreams. Cecilia: What dream? Oh yeah, I told you last night. I can't remember it even now. Vahn: Well, in each dream you are in some sort of prison or laboratory with 2 men, Darril and Faros. Am I jogging your memory yet? Cecilia: Hey! Some of my memory is coming back. I can remember the setting now! It was a laboratory, not a prison. Vahn: Good. What about the men? Cecilia: I remember 2 figures, that's it. Vahn: Hmm... well that's OK. Darril seems to obey Faros, and they both seemed to be testing you in each dream. In the last one you fought back, but were defeated by Faros. Cecilia: Let me think. Yes, one of the figures obeyed the other. And one of them was powerful beyond imagination. Vahn: Good! But I don't want you to forget everything you remembered, so let's stop. Cecilia: Fine. Now let's get going to the Elms Mountain Range! The characters form a party again and you can leave. But on your way out, a man with a cloak and a staff yells to the characters. Man: Vahn and Cecilia I presume? Vahn: What? Huh? Cecilia: How did you know my name! Man: Questions, questions. Any good wizard should know telepathy. Vahn: Wizard? What's your name anyway? Man: Forgive me for not introducing myself. I'm... You should know the procedure for naming by now. The default is Jadger, and I'll keep it that way for this walkthrough. Jadger: Jadger Elsham. Vahn: Why are you here? Cecilia: I was wondering myself. Jadger: Well, I read from your mind that you were going to Archknight. I was going myself, but why travel alone when you can have companions? Cecilia: Are you asking if you can come with us? Jadger: Bluntly, yes. Vahn: It's better to travel in groups, I guess. Jadger: So may I come? Cecilia: You've got my permission. Vahn: Mine too! We are leaving today, so come on. Jadger: I will gather my belongings. Jadger runs upstairs quickly, comes back down, and a text box appears. Text: ***Jadger joined the party!*** You should buy a better staff for Jadger and if you want, Mana Mail. He comes with 2 magic crystals (not equipped) and a few spells. The crystals are Fire Diamond, and Earth Sapphire, one of which you haven't obtained yet. They teach indirect Fire spells and attack Earth spells. Don't forget, you can switch around what crystals each character has, so you may want Cecilia to learn an attack Earth spell. Jadger come with the Tremor, Slow Burn, and Fire Barrier spells. If you want, give him a Fire Ruby so he can learn attack Fire spells. Once you are done shopping, leave the town. Your current party stats should look like this: Vahn-Level 13-1340HP-108MP-26SP, Cecilia-Level 12-1160HP-165MP-19SP. Jadger-Level 14-980HP-240MP-15SP. A good idea would be to go back to the cave and see if you can gain some magic levels. All characters should have at least one attack spell. By the way, if you have already gained a level with Vahn's indirect Wind, consider getting one more level to get the Speedy Wind spell, which is very useful (hastens an ally). At this point in the game, the whole team should have a bunch of good spells overall that can heal/help/hurt. Some of the most important spells you can gain at this point would be Speedy Wind, Healing Tide, Fire Barrier, and Fire Ball. You should have at least one or two of these. When you are good and ready, go into the Elms Mountain Range north of Greenburke. The characters start to talk. Vahn: Well, this is it. The only thing between us and Archknight. Cecilia: You've come a ways from your hometown. Don't you feel homesick? Vahn: Not really. Since I was young, I have been wandering and travelling all around Albaster. Jadger: Hmm. Your mind speaks differently. Cecilia: Hey, well I don't mind about Vahn's past. I'm just worried about my own. Vahn: Speaking of which, we had better get going. Jadger: Than, let's start climbing! The screen fades out as the characters enter the mountain range. This is the end of chapter 4. Although the plot has just started to get interesting, the characters will have another task for them to complete. But what is it... =========================================================================== ==========================Chapter 5: The Spire============================= =========================================================================== This chapter opens up with the party in the Elms Mountain Range. There are plenty of ways to go here, but most of them are dead ends. You can tell which way is the right way if you look at at the rock formation in front of the path. If it is jagged, not smooth, then it is the right way. Keep climbing and collecting treasure if you find any (some are in dead ends). The enemies here are mostly wind-type, so all of your spells work well against them. Jadger may run low on MP with all his spell-casting, so use his Meditate command freely. If you have spent any time getting spells/levels lately, your party should have enough power to plow right through them. Keep going through the paths to complete the first part of the mountain range. Once you complete the part with the paths, you will be standing on a cliff. This time, you must run along the edge of the cliff. After a little bit, a forest will come into view. Go inside the forest if you want more items. If you decide to go in, the enemies are overworld enemies and the first part mountain range enemies. Among Gold and common items you will find Jadger's first special crystal, the Psionic Diamond. It has no use yet, but it will later on. You don't have to equip it. Another good item is the Artic Cane, a weapon for both Cecilia and Vahn. It is an ice-based weapon, which may come in handy later on. Plus, every time you attack, there is a small chance (15%) that instead of a regular attack, the wielder will swing it and icicles will burst out of it. I suggest giving this weapon to Vahn, since Cecilia is better off with a sword. Move back to the cliff and proceed. By now, your party's vital stats may be getting low. However, once you see the forest ending, a save point is up ahead. Save and rest, and continue to the third part. This one is a verticle climb. There are many different paths, but from the start, you should take the center, left, left, center, right and center. You will make it no matter what path you take, but this route is the shortest. You will also find a few large sums of gold and a 1 max SP upgrade for all characters. The enemies in this part are in bigger groups, so watch out and use any multi-enemy spells you have. Once you get to the top, there is another save point. Rest and save, and continue on to the final part. You will be running over bridges and small caves, with a panoramic view of the land below. Most of the caves have items in them, which you should feel free to take. After the 3rd bridge, which is very long, the characters will stop and rest automatically. They start to talk. Jadger: I did not realize how big this mountain was. Vahn: Yeah, neither did I. We sure have come a long way. Cecilia: Why don't we all rest? Nothing bad could happen to us. Vahn: Good idea. Jadger: I suggest one of us should keep watch in the night, in case we are attacked. Vahn: I'll do it, I guess. Cecilia: No, that's ok. You've done a lot for me and this is the least I could do to pay you back. Vahn: If you insist. The party sets up camp, and the screen fades out and in to nighttime. Cecilia sits with her back on one of the posts of the bridge. She gazes out into the scenery. Cecilia: I wish I knew who I was... What's that? In front of her, a sparkle of light hovers. Cecilia: What's going on?! The light flickers at a fast rate and Cecilia watches wide-eyed. Cecilia hears something. Voice: Cecilia. Cecilia: Who's there? Voice: You must find your past. Cecilia: I know! Voice: Do not give up. You must go to... the Spire. Cecilia: What Spire? Wait! The voice and the light fade with a confused Cecilia waiting. Vahn wakes up. Vahn: *Yawn* Morning, Cecilia. Cecilia: ... Vahn: What are you thinking about? Cecilia: I saw a ball of light in front of me. I think it said something like "go to the Spire". Vahn: Spire? Never heard of it. I'll ask Jadger. Vahn gets up and wakes up Jadger. Jadger stirs. Jadger: I do not recollect a Spire in this region. Cecilia: How did you... ? Oh, right. You read my mind. Jadger: That is correct. Vahn: For now, we have to go to Archknight and find the Spire later. Jadger: Yes, and I'm afraid I will have to leave you there. Vahn: Right. It's been nice having you as a partner. Cecilia: Same here. We'd better get going now. You have control of the party yet again. You can save if you want here, but you won't need to. Just hike down the mountain slope to finish the level. The characters will be back on the overworld. Yay! Travel north to Archknight. It looks like a city with a big tower (the spire?) in the center of it. You may want to build your levels in this section of the overworld, since the monsters come in big groups for big experience. Most of them are wind or fire type (use the Artic Cane here), and have about 1500HP. Ground-based Earth spells don't hurt avian enemies, such as Levitor. You will get about 15 magic experience per battle also, which is not too shabby. Don't forget that each spell cast gives 1-3 magic experience. Attack spells usually give 3 each time. A good strategy would be to Slow a fire monster and have every member cast fire spells. No damage will be done, but the party shouldn't have much fear or damage being done to them (kill other enemies first). You will get an extra 15 or so magic experience for each character if you do a few rounds of this. Anyway, go to Archknight. Once you get inside, Jadger will seperate from the group. Jadger: Thank you for journeying with me. I hope our paths cross again. Vahn: Yeah. By the way, I've been wondering something about you. Jadger: What would that be? Vahn: Why are you here? Jadger: I hope to find the Tome of Knowledge in the arcane library here. I wish to become more powerful by researching ancient spells. Vahn: OK... I hope you find it. Cecilia: Good luck! Goodbye! Jadger: Farewell Vahn and Cecilia. Jadger walks off into the city. A text box appears. Text:***Jadger left the party.*** Cecilia starts to talk to Vahn. Cecilia: We're finally here. Where in can we find a library? Vahn: I haven't actually been here before, so let's ask around. Cecilia: Fine with me. You control the characters once they are done talking. This city is huge, but there is a simple way to get around. You may see signs that say 'Rail' on them. Go up to one and press A while looking at it. A tram will come by and you can get inside. The driver will ask you where you want to go. You can go to the Library (costs 20 Gold), Mall (costs 35 Gold), Plaza (costs 45 Gold), Entrance (costs 10 Gold), or the Residential Area (costs 60 Gold). If you don't want to use the rail, the Library is East, the Plaza is North, the Mall is West, and the Residential Area is Northeast. Since this city has plenty of good stuff for sale, you should visit the mall first. Bring along plenty of Gold! There is an Armory for weapons, an Outfitters for armor and miscellaneous equipment, a Jeweler for crystals, an Information Booth for (you guessed it) information. The Armory has quite a wide variety of weapons, but you can pick up a bunch of nice swords here especially. You can buy the Artic Cane if you don't already have it, and the Rock Saber (short sword). All of the armor is insanely expensive, but it adds a lot to your defense. Be sure to buy 3 suits (an extra for the upcoming character). You can buy a few good miscellaneous equipments here also. Most of them increase your defense and attack at the same time, but they have less defense than the ones from Greenburke. If you bought the best armor, however, you have no need to worry. You can now buy the Fire Diamond at the Jeweler and a new crystal, the Wind Emerald. Vahn can use this to cast attack Wind spells, which may be useful to you. Remember, Jadger left all his crystals back. The magic crystals you (should) have now are: Fire Ruby - Fire Diamond - Wind Emerald - Earth Sapphire - Earth Diamond - Water Emerald. You can also get these effect crystals: Strength Ruby, Magic Emerald, and Defense Diamond. You should equip either the Strength Ruby or Defense Diamond whenever you are about to level up, since they increase how much Attack and Guard you get per level by 20% (a good deal). The Magic Emerald is good for Cecilia, but Vahn should stick with the Life Diamond. After you are done with the Mall, feel free to go anywhere you want before you go to the Library. If you go to the Plaza, you will be barred from going into the tower in the center of the city. The Residential Area has a bunch of houses where the citizens will give you side quests to go on. Most of them are find-my-dog or find-my-kid, which you simply have to look around their yard. If you find the thing they are looking for, they will reward you with either Gold or a tech mix, a mana mix, or a health mix. If you get the latter, they are great items that increases your HP, MP, or SP permenantly. But once you get say, a health mix, you won't get another one. After exploring wherever you want to go, travel to the Library. Here, Vahn and Cecilia will start to talk. Cecilia: This looks like it. Vahn: Right! The 'Arcane Library'. It has all sorts of stuff in it from what I've heard. Cecilia: I hope so. Vahn: Hey! We only have an hour till it closes. We'd better go inside. Cecilia: Good! The two characters go inside the library. The screen zooms out to show a full picture of the whole library: isles of books, and more books. An elaborate staircase leads to the second level, which has even more books. A balcony sits about 25 feet up, with gold railings. Cecilia comments. Cecilia: Whoa! This really is huge! Vahn: I never expected it to be this big. Cecilia: Which way to the books on dreams? Vahn: Let's see... The two characters walk around the library looking for where the books on dreams are. The screen constantly fades in and out to show time passing. Vahn finds the right books. Vahn: Hey Cecilia! I think I found them. Cecilia: "Deciphering Dreams", "Unlocking the Mind", "The Meaning of Your Dreams"... let's take these ones out. Vahn: To the front desk! Before you go to the front desk, be sure to look around for the section with a silver sign on it that says "Swordfighting". If you neglect to find it, when you finish here, Vahn will say the "We should really look around a little more." If you go there, make sure Vahn is at least level 14. Check all of the shelves with A in that section. At the last one, if Vahn is level 14, a conversation will happen. Vahn: Hey! This looks interesting. Cecilia: What is it called? Vahn: "Fast Slash: The Knight's Best Friend". This may come in handy... A text box will then appear. Text:***Vahn learned Fast Slash!*** Another Blade Technique. Once you are finished with that, go to the entrance of the library, and to the front desk. The librarian will talk to the characters. Librarian: What do you have there? Vahn: 3 books on translating dreams. Librarian: Hmm. 100 Gold, please. Vahn: Umm... Cecilia *Whispers* Just give it to him! Vahn: Here's the money. Librarian: Thank you. Bring these back in 3 days or you will be charged 50 Gold for every day late. Cecilia: Don't worry, we'll bring them back. The characters walk outside and sit on the stone steps to the Library. Vahn: I'll read from one of these. Vahn: "To start, dreams are figures of imagination for any human. They portray memories, worries, joys, and figures of one's own mind. In any dream, the dreamer can control what happens. No matter what." Cecilia: For some reason, I couldn't control what I did. Vahn: I wonder why. Wait, maybe this will explain it. Vahn: "Sometiems a dreamer will not be able to control his or her dreams. This is a very..." Cecilia: What? What? Keep reading. Vahn: Somebody tore this page out! Cecilia: Oh well. Read the next one! Vahn: "... so make sure you know fully about this matter." Vahn: The rest is just about regular dreams. None of the chapters are about dreams like yours. Cecilia: I wish I knew what that page said! But you'd have to be some sort of a phychic to know... Vahn: Wait. What did you just say? Cecilia: I said you would have to be a phychic to know what was written there.... Both characters sit in silence for a second. All of a sudden, they both look at eachother and say the same thing. Cecilia + Vahn: Jadger!!! They each get up and go into the library. The librarian stops them. Librarian: I'm sorry. No admittance past closing time. Vahn: But this is urgent. Librarian: No. Cecilia: Where would have Jadger gone? Vahn: Can you tell us if anybody by the name of 'Jadger' took anything out? Librarian: Yes, I believe he did. Cecilia: Could you tell us where he went? Librarian: I'm not sure. I think it was towards the plaza. He was in a hurry, though. That's all I am allowed to tell you. Vahn: Thanks! Vahn runs out and Cecilia follows. Cecilia talks while she runs after Vahn. Cecilia: *Pant* Where are we going? Vahn: The plaza! Cecilia: Oh! Vahn: *Pant* I think Jadger found that Spire you were talking about! Cecilia: Really?! Vahn: Yeah! Let's go! The characters run off and the screen stops scrolling. The screen fades and lights up on the party catching their breath in front of the tower. The guard that didn't allow anyone in isn't there. Vahn: Should we go in? Cecilia: Why not. Hurry! Both the characters run in and the screen switches to a view of Faros and Darril in their laboratory. Faros holds some sort of an orb. They start to talk. Darril: I have sent a spy to search for the girl. Faros: Excellent. Did you do anything else? Darril: The girl has been having recurring dreams about us according to the pattern of her brainwaves at night. Faros: And... Darril: She and a man named Vahn looked for a book explaining about types of dreams. If she finds out about her ability to change form somehow, it would possibly jolt her memory. I tore out the vital pages in the book that contained the information about the types of dreams she has. Daros: Good job. Once the spy gets back with the information about her location, we can capture her and get her to summon Galgar. His soul awaits his body in this orb... And so there is a grim ending to this chapter. Vahn and Cecilia are in pursuit of the mysterious Jadger, and the tower, or is it the spire, sits in the middle of everything. But what of Faros and Darril? All is revealed in Chapter 6. =========================================================================== =========================Chapter 6: Foreshadowing========================== =========================================================================== The screen centers on Cecilia and Vahn coming into the large tower that Jadger is in. It is filled with all sorts of weapons and armor. They sit down against the wall to catch their breath and start to talk. Cecilia: So... what it this place? Vahn: I think I've heard of it. Some sort of a museum of ancient armaments and magic. Cecilia: Why do you think Jadger's here? Vahn: Remember he said he wanted to be more powerful? Cecilia: Yes, but why would he care about a museum? Vahn: I was getting to that. He said he wanted to research ancient magic. He could probably find them here somewhere. Cecilia: He was in a hurry, though. This doesn't add up. Vahn: Well, forget why he is here, we have to find him and get him to tell us what that page said! You now have to travel through this tower. It is 10 floors straight up, but the floors are not big. You encounter ghost-like enemies which are: Wraiths, Wrath Ghost, and Spectral Mage. The former 2 have around 1600HP each, but the Spectral Mage has almost 1900! All of the ghosts have a high Speed rating and they always hit. Wrath Ghosts have the annoying habit of warping out of battle and warping in to attack. Since you can't hit them while they are warped out, try getting them poisoned. The poison will damage them considerably for the turns they are out. Fire type spells do a generous amount of damage (600-700HP), but Earth spells don't do much. Wind does average damage. I suggest you use spells only for most of the enemies, since they are hard to hit. The first two enemies have various attacks that cause status ailments, but they are not serious. Wraiths drop items that heal the conditions. Spectral Mages cast spells of various types, including the deadly Death Bolt. Pound these enemies first, then concentrate on the lesser ones. The layout of the tower is pretty much the same throughout. In the center of each floor is a staircase, but the characters must travel around to get to the staircase going up. On each floor there are usually bigger groups of enemies. The first floor has no enemies. The second has one enemy (sometimes), the third floor has rare encounters of two enemies etc. Every 2 floors there is a treasure, usually gold or equipment. The sixth floor has a valuable plus 2 maximum SP upgrade. On floor nine you can rest and save, which you should definitly do because there is a hard boss coming up. At floor ten, you will finally find Jadger standing in front of a book on a stand. Vahn will call out to him. Vahn: Jadger! Why are you here? Jadger: ...lend me your power... Vahn: What are you talking about? Cecilia: Huh? Jadger: ...for what is to come... Vahn: If I knew how to lend you my power I would, but... Jadger: ...quro elgh yrm Trifhelger! Suddenly, Jadger outstreches his arms and a huge blast of light rips apart the area in front of him. A beam appears out of the rubble and zooms across the room. The party looks around, astonished, to see some sort of humanoid beast about to cast a spell on Cecilia! The beam strikes it and it falls to its knees. What would be a powerful globe of energy fired from its hands travels a few feet and is engulfed by the beam from Jadger. Cecilia: What is going on! Jadger: No time to explain. Get with me and get ready to battle! Humanoid: Ha! No puny mage can defeat Trifhelger! Cecilia: So that's what Trifhelger is. Vahn: Look Tri-whatever! If you want to kill Cecilia you're going through me first! Trifhelger: So be it. I will crush you and the mage, than capture her! Gwa ha ha! With that, a boss battle ensues, the second major one. =========================================================================== =========================Boss Battle: Trifhelger=========================== =========================================================================== Suggested Level: 15 HP: 11000 MP: 800 SP: 60 Gold Gained: 10000 Weakness: None Resists: None Absorbs: None Attacks: Eclipse Blade, Spectral Disc, Mindblow, Energy Bolt, Rejun. Treasure: 1 SP for each character, Forest Diamond. Method: The second major boss battle in the game. Trifhelger is a tank on legs, so you are in for a long battle. Vahn should use Fast Slash as much as possible for up to 600HP each attack. Fire Cut is also fairly effective, at about 480HP. When Vahn has no SP, pour on as many spells as you can. When you are completely drained, use regular attacks and items to try to gain your MP/SP back. Cecilia should be able to do 500+ damage with her best spell by now, be it Earth or Fire type. Rock Fall/Fire Needle are both good choices since they concentrate on one enemy, but if you are willing to spare the MP, use Fireball. However, Cecilia's role should be to cast multiple ally healing spells with fighting as a second priority. Jadger can deal even more hurt than Cecilia, using the same spells (600+ damage). Basically, you should be doing at least 1000HP per turn to keep the pressure on. However, on a good turn, use the best attacks and spells you can muster to make sure Trifhelger doesn't Rejun the HP back. If Jadger starts running low on MP or HP, use Meditate. This ability will bring back about 50-60 MP and around 50 HP. Not bad, for one turn used up. Use this on turns where the whole party is not attacking. Trifhelger has an aresnal of deadly techniques and spells that you should watch out for. Mindblow is his main spell, which damages an ally's HP *and* MP. It can do over 450HP most times and drain about 40-45MP. His rarer spell, Energy Bolt, can defeat a wounded character by delivering 600+ HP! And don't think he will run out of MP either. He has 800! Every turn Trifhelger will heal back 300 of his HP, and some turns he will use a unique spell called Rejun, which heals 1000HP automatically. To help prevent him from doing this, use slowing spells and try to Haste all your characters any way you can so you can do more damage then he can heal. If you are lucky enough to have gotten the Vortex spell, use it! You have a 50% chance of stopping Trifhelger entirely for 1-3 turns, which means he can't heal! If not this, just keep casting slow spells like Reverse Wind and Slow Vines, like I said. Trifhelger has 2 techniques that should be watched out for. When he grabs his sword and holds it high, he is about to do an Eclipse Blade. This attack has awesome visuals, but when everything clears, the whole party will probably take about 500HP. Spectral Disc is one attack you don't want to get. It either does nothing, does 500+ damage, or kills a character outright. Not good, in the latter 2 cases. Although this is a difficult fight, eventually Trifhelger will fall. You will probably get enough experience to advance a level, besides 25 magic experience. Vahn and Cecilia still look puzzled. The three engage in a long conversation. NOTE: You can steal a lot of gold from Trifhelger, if you have the command equipped. Jadger: I take it you want to know what's happening? Vahn: Yeah! Cecilia: Yes! Jadger: After I left I went to the library. In the Tome of Knowledge I was told that ancient magic could be found in the Spire. Cecilia: There that name is again. Jadger: I presumed that the Spire was the tower here. Before I left, I attempted to tune my thoughts into anybody thinking about you, Cecilia. Cecilia: But why? Jadger: I had a strange feeling that you were going to be in danger. I picked up the thoughtwaves of Trifhelger, here, and all that was going through his mind was 'Find Cecilia'. I could tell he was hostile, also. Cecilia: Why is everybody helping me? I'm just a stranger to this island! Vahn: I guess people just like you. Jadger: Ahem. Vahn: Sorry. Jadger: Since I didn't want a former partner of mine to be injured if I could help, I decided to try to stop Trifhelger. Now I couldn't do this without the proper spells. I ran into the tower and summoned all the energy I could to drain Trifhelger of his power. I drained most of it, but he still had half of it, as we have just found out. Cecilia: So that explains why you were in such a hurry. Vahn: Without you, that thing probably would have killed us. Cecilia: Yeah, thanks! I'm sorry, but we have a favor to ask of you. I'm embarressed, after you just saved my life. Jadger: We can worry about debts later. But what is the favor? Cecilia: We found a book on dreams of my type. One page is torn out, so we though you might be able to figure out what was there. Jadger: I'm sorry. The only way I might be able to is with the ancient spells such as the ones here. Their power here, however, has run out. Vahn: That's too bad... Jadger: There is one way. If you would like me to accompany you again, I could find more magic to be used. Besides, destiny brought us together twice. We should listen to it and stay together this time. Vahn: Sounds good to me. Cecilia: Sure! Where to? Jadger: We should go north of here and cross the river, than investigate the Barrier Ruins. There is a source of energy there that might be what I am looking for. Cecilia: Barrier Ruins, here we come! Text:***Jadger rejoined the party!*** Now you have Jadger permenantly! Your third character! Equip him as needed, he needs better armor and a magic crystal. Important! Equip Cecilia's second special crystal. If you gain levels with it equipped, you may learn a few Tree elemental spells, including the potent Growth spell. Now leave the tower. There are no more enemies, so don't worry. Once you get out, there will be a save point in front of the tower. Use it to rest, and go to the Mall. Outfit Jadger and the rest of the party with the money you gained from the tower. Once you finish, you should leave Archknight and go north. Before you can, there is a rock cliff that you cannot pass. Travel east for awhile. The enemies are now mostly Earth and Wind type, so don't use that those elements for the respective monsters. It's a long journey to the next location, the Spring, so keep your HP/MP up with items and not magic. The battles will take awhile, but you won't fight often. Consider gaining a magic level for everybody to learn some new attack/healing spells. Soon enough you will get to what looks like a giant fountain on the overworld. Go into it if you want to go on a short side quest. There are assorted creatures who will either be nice to you or challenge you to a fight. The ones that fight are usually upgraded versions of the enemies in palm forest (in Albaster). You have to pick one party member to fight them. I suggest Cecilia since she needs to level up. Fight all the ones you can then talk to the green armored serpent sitting on the edge of the fountain. Serpent: What do you want!? Cecilia: I'm just wondering, what is this place? Serpent: It's the fountain of health. Creatures for all over come to heal their wounds and strengthen themselves. But this is my fountain now! Cecilia: Hey! You can't do that! Serpent: I can do anything I wish! Now leave my presence! Vahn: It looks like you're 'wishing' for a beating. Serpent: You wish to fight? Gladly! A battle starts. The Serpent King has 6000HP, but that's nothing compared to your previous battle with Trifhelger. It's not a boss battle either. Whittle his HP down to 2000 with just about any spell or attack, and he will 'call for help'. He withdraws to the back, where he can't be hit with regular attacks or techniques. 3 upgraded serpents with 2000HP each come to the front. The only attacks they or the Serpent King have, are Sting which does 200-300 damage and Poison Sting which does 250-350 damage and poisons a character. Now that there are multiple enemies, use your best multi-enemy spells possible. It is likely that that after a few rounds the creatures will all be beaten. After the Serpent King falls, the battle ends and he says something. Serpent: You... beat me? Vahn: Yeah! And we'll do it again too! Serpent: Alright! Alright! I'll let other creatures use this fountain. And one more thing. Since you beat me in battle, I will give you this bag that some goblin dropped. Here. Cecilia: We've done our good here. Let's get going. Use the bag in your item screen. It rips open and a health mix, a tech mix, and a mana mix fall out! Use them on whoever you want, but the tech mix should go to Vahn and the mana mix should go to Jadger or Cecilia. Now your current party stats should be: Vahn-Level 16-1690HP-146MP-37SP, Cecilia-Level 15-1425HP-234MP-22SP. Jadger-Level 16-1170HP-327MP-20SP. This is if you used 2 tech mixes and a healh mix on Vahn, a health and mana mix on Cecilia, and a mana mix on Jadger. Anyway, now that you have 'liberated' the Spring, you can continue on your main quest. Go east a bit more and you will come to a town, Suphin. Here you should rest and stock up on supplies. Although this town has no weapon shop, it has a Crystal shop where you can buy 2 new effect crystals: Dual Diamond and Blue Ruby. The Dual Diamond is a very effective crystal for Vahn, since it lets the user hold 2 weapons at once, therefore doubling his attack strength. It works for any character, but he is the fighter right now. The Blue Ruby halves damage taken from Water-based attacks, so you might want to buy a few for later on. After resting at Suphin, go northeast to cross the bridge and the river! The Barrier Ruins are just a little more north and west of the bridge, so you won't need to heal up. Enter them, and the party will rest and start to talk. Jadger: This is the Barrier Ruins. Vahn: It looks pretty huge. How are we going to get through it? Jadger: My magic tells me that we should look for the map inside somewhere. Cecilia: Sounds like a good idea. Vahn: Be on your guard, remember. You can now start journeying through the next major level. You can go north or west from where you start. West leads to a corridor with some Gold in it, but north is where you want to go. After a brief walk, you will arrive at a sort of cliff. On the other side is an entrance to more of the ruins, but you can't get across yet. Cecilia will comment on this. Cecilia: How are we supposed to cross this? Vahn: I'm not sure. We need a rope or something. Cecilia: Let's go back then. If you go back a bit and keep checking the right wall with A, part of the wall will crumble and you can enter it. The enemies in the other part of the ruins are not hard, just enemies similair to the ones at the Spring. However, the enemies in the tunnel and beyond are much harder. The Ancient Wizard enemy is deadly because it can cast several 400+ damage spells and will if you don't kill it quickly. It has about 3000HP. There are other enemies such as Titanium Skeleton, but they should be no problem if you use fire type spells or give Vahn a Fire Sword (if you have the Dual Diamond you can equip that and your usual weapon). Weapons with edges do less damage to the skeleton enemies then blunt weapons like staffs and rods, and it is harder to deplete 2500-2800HP with 200 damage attacks. Anyway, proceed through the tunnel and you will come out in to a room with engravings on the wall. Search this room for some items, and then go east. After a bit of walking, you will come to a wall with a picture of a cyclops on it. Inspect it, and it fights you. It isn't a boss, just a harder enemy. Use magic on it, but regular attacks and special attacks are effective. Use Jadger's Meditate and Cecilia's Vigor to keep your HP and MP up while casting stuff. The cyclops has about 5000HP. Once you win, the engraving will dissappear from the wall and you can flip a switch. Go back to the room with the engravings on it and the wall to the west that was previously blocked will now be accessible. Walk through it and grab the item bag there. At the end, you will find a grappling hook hung on the wall. Take it and go ALL the way back to the cliff side and the party will automatically use it to cross. Of course you can always go back if you need to. Across the cliff lies a long passageway with no treasure. Don't waste your MP and SP here, since you will need it very soon. Heal with items, Vigor, or Meditate or simply use regular attacks if you need to. At the end of the passageway, the characters will start to talk. Cecilia: This looks like the end. Jadger: Yes. Now I must concentrate and absorb this knowledge. Cecilia: Hey Vahn, look at these glyphs. They're so lifelike. Vahn: Wait a second. Did that one of the knight just move? Cecilia: I don't like the looks of this... Suddenly, Jadger's eyes open and he springs up. Jadger: Watch out!!! The glyph of the knight comes off the wall and attacks the team. =========================================================================== =======================Boss Battle: Ancient Knight========================= =========================================================================== Suggested Level: 17 HP: 13000 MP: 200 SP: 99 Gold Gained: 15000 Weakness: Tree Resists: Wind Absorbs: Earth Attacks: Gold Blade, Vacuum Cut, Ragnarok Treasure: 2 SP for each character. Method: Ancient Knight is fairly tough since you can't use Water or Earth magic on it. Have Cecilia use her best Fire spell possible, which by now should be Fireball or Fireburner. Fireball can do 750+ damage at best, but Fireburner easily does 800HP. If you have acquired the Tree spell Whip Branch (you probably haven't), then Cecilia with proper magic enhancing equipment can deliver 950HP or more damage! Vahn should use every skill at his disposal, but Fast Slash does the highest damage. Jadger should use his Fire magic along with Cecilia. Cast enhancing spells such as Speedy Wind, Earth Wall, and Fire Barrier. You can attempt to slow the Ancient Knight, but he is slow enough already. If Cecilia's HP gets low at any time, either use multiple ally healing spells or items. Don't waste your MP too much, since this battle is fairly long. Ancient Knight has 3 excessivly strong techniques, besides his 400+ damage regular attack. Gold Blade will cut one character for over 700HP, although that can easily be healed. Vacuum Cut hurts all allies forr over 800HP, besides looking cool. Ragnarok is a skill that he rarely uses, but it destroys your whole team for over 1000 damage! Make sure if you see him not attacking for awhile, you heal your HP over 1000. This boss isn't too hard, since he is slow and Fire magic works on him. You will enjoy the SP you get for beating him, plus the 15K gold! Vahn: I don't like this place. Really. Jadger: We'll leave soon, I've almost absorbed all the magic. Jadger concentrates extremely hard, then relaxes suddenly, and exhales. He doesn't look too happy. Cecilia: What's wrong? Do you have enough magic yet? Jadger: Actually, no. Some of the ancients' magic, since it hasn't been used for centuries, has created strange beasts like the one we just fought. There is not enough to see what was on the page in the dream book. Cecilia: So how are we going to get the rest? Jadger: This island is small. We would have to take a ship off of it first. Vahn: Let's go to the Azure Castle on the north continent! I... er... know a lot about it. Jadger: I too have heard that it is a hub for magic users. Let us be off. Jadger warps the party outside of the Barrier Ruins. The only dock on the whole island is in Lumin City, to the north. It's only a short walk, and you get fully healed from the battle with Ancient Knight. Once inside, the screen zooms to the dock, and back to the characters. However, you should first buy some better weapons/armor with the cash from the Barrier Ruins. There is one new crystal here, the Charge Emerald. Give it to Vahn. It makes his Steal and Blade Tech skills more effective. Go to the dock, and a man will stop you. Man: I'm sorry. This ship is for authorized usage only. Cecilia: Excuse me? Man: This ship is owned by Mr. Galvani. Vahn: Galvani?! Is his first name Selt by any chance? Man: Yes. Vahn, Cecilia, and Jadger huddle away from Gray. Vahn: Look. We have to show that guy some proof that I'm Selt's friend. Cecilia: But what? Jadger: Who is this 'Selt'? Vahn: Oh! I forgot to tell you. He's an old friend of mine. Jadger: Ah. Maybe I could send a telepathic message to him? Vahn: Good idea! Cecilia: Go ahead. We'll be quiet. Jadger concentrates very hard and a vein comes out on his forehead. After a few seconds, he stops. Jadger: I have done it. If he 'thinks' back a response, I will tell you. Vahn: Thanks! Cecilia: I'm sorry you two, but I'm tired. Could we go to the inn for tonight? Vahn: I guess I'm bushed too. Let's go. Go to the inn, and rest. In the morning, Jadger will tell you that he has received a response in his dream. Jadger: Selt says that we should tell the guard the password. Vahn: What would that be? Jadger: "Whiterose". Vahn and the team will automatically go to the man and tell him the password. Man: What?! How did you... ? Vahn: I am Selt's old friend. Now please, let us use this ship to travel to the North Continent. But first, what's your name? Naming time again! The man's name is really Gray, a welcome addition to your ranks. Gray: I am Gray Kheltheim. You may use this ship. But first, may I ask you something? Vahn: Go ahead. Gray: I have been working as a guard for years, but my instincts want to travel, and go on adventures. Do you think I could come with you? Cecilia: The more the merrier! Jadger: It is fine with me. Vahn: We need as many people as we can. Gray: Well then, let's go to the north continent! Text: ***Gray joined the party!*** With Gray on your team, stride on to the ship, and pat yourself on the back. You are through with chapter 6! A text box will appear on the screen and the world map shows the ship slowly moving to the north continent. Text: And so, the valiant band of heroes abandon their beloved homeland, the Isle of Taranda. But what awaits them? Who is Galgar? What is Cecilia's true identity? All will be revealed in good time... =========================================================================== ==========================Chapter 7: A New Land============================ =========================================================================== This chapter begins as the party is relaxing on the deck of the boat at night. Gray starts a conversation. Gray: So why are you guys going to the north continent? Cecilia: It's a long story. Gray: Just give me an idea. Cecilia: Well, I lost my memory when I was younger and Vahn... Vahn: Hi. Cecilia: ...found me on the beach near his hometown and we've been trying to find out my history ever since. Gray: And where does the wizard come in? Jadger: Please call me Jadger. Cecilia: Anyway, we were travelling with him to Archknight for awhile, but destiny brought us back together again. He's searching to become the ultimate magician. Gray: Ah. All of a sudden, Jadger perks up and the ship starts creaking. Jadger: I sense an unnatural presence on this ship. Cecilia: Doesn't seem right... Vahn: Why is the ship creaking? Gray: Could this be...? The party hears a scream and everyone gets up. Chains moving below the deck are heard. There is laughing too, and another scream. All: THE GHOST SHIP! A skeleton breaks through the floor of the deck, laughs, and attacks the party. =========================================================================== ==========================Boss Battle: Death Lord========================== =========================================================================== Suggested Level: 17 HP: N/A MP: N/A SP: N/A Gold Gained: 0 Weakness: N/A Resists: N/A Absorbs: N/A Attacks: None Treasure: None Method: This battle is 'rigged'. Just regular attack it for a few turns and the battle goes to automatic. A man with a cape jumps in and fries the skeleton with a beam of light. Man: Excuse me about that. Vahn: What? Cecilia: Huh? Jadger: ? Gray: Who are you? Man: Allow me to introduce myself. I am the captain of this ship. I am a ghost, yes, but only because I was lured here by an evil spirit. Of course, I can prevent others from coming just as the evil spirit lured me here. I check on my new 'passengers' and see if I can get them out. Vahn: So how do we get off? Captain: Well, it's kind of complicated. There is a crystal at the bottom of this ship that will guide the ones who touch it to land. I cannot touch it, since I am dead. You can. You also need one person to touch the crystal up here. Cecilia: What crystal? Captain: Over there. The captain points to a small blue object sticking out of the mast of the ship. Captain: Who's it going to be? You now must choose who you want to stay and touch the crystal. You must have Cecilia, and Jadger is a wise choice. Vahn or Gray? Your choice again. [Whoever Stayed Back]: Me. [Others]: Let's go down there! Descend the ladder. There are plenty of enemies down here, but you can also pick up some good weapons and armor in chests. The enemies are either skeletons or ghosts, having 3000-3300HP. Skeletons use sword attacks for about 400-600HP, but the ghosts are trouble. They use undead magic, such as Decay and Dark Beam. These spells can do up to 900HP of damage, enough to kill a weakened party member. Use Fire magic as quickly as you can to dispose of these enemies, or special attacks. If you need to replenish your stats as you crawl down through the ship, use Gray's MP/SP effecient Combo Sword skills, or, if you have a spear, Lance. Meditate and Vigor also work. At the end, touch the crystal. The characters will unite, and the ship will go on land. The captain waves goodbye, as the party walks on to the north continent. Gray: We're finally here! Cecilia: Yeah. So who is going to come with me and go to the Azure Castle? Pick your team, again. I suggest Vahn and Jadger. The overworld enemies here are much harder than what you have ever fought. They have about 4000HP and can do 700-800 damage each hit. They use enhancing magic on eachother, and many spells. However, you won't fight often. After about 15-20 fights, you'll probably advance a level. I suggest doing so, and healing in between battles. These enemies also give up to 50 magic experience per battle, one of the largest amounts in the game. If you don't want to fight, just run away and proceed north. Soon enough, a town will come into view, Alenta. Rest at the inn, and check out the crystal shop. There are lots of new and old ones for sale. You should buy a Wind Emerald for wind attack spells, first. Since Gray can use Water (Healing), also buy a Water Emerald for later use. You can buy a few more effect crystals, such as the Red Emerald and Brown Diamond. The Red Emerald will come in handy very soon, so buy 3. If you have any money left over, you should look at the weapon and armor shop. They only sell the 'ancient' weapons, which are VERY good. They sell: Ancient Sword (Long Sword), Ancient Knife (Dagger), Ancient Blade (Broadsword), and Ancient Spear (Spear). If somebody has the Dual Diamond, your coffers will probably be drained. Go out and advance some more, then. By now, your party stats should look like this: Vahn-Level 18-1950HP-187MP-42SP, Cecilia-Level 17-1553HP-289MP-25SP. Jadger-Level 18-1299HP-383MP-24SP, Gray-Level 18-2320HP-86MP-41SP. This is if you used 2 tech mixes and a health mix on Vahn, a health and mana mix on Cecilia, and a mana mix on Jadger.
