Thank You's 0~~~~{======================> UPDATES 9/??/99 - Started the Freedom: A Call For Help IAQ. I made the logo, added table of contents, intro, plot and storyline, and all the playable characters. Hopefully I can work on this some other time! 10/??/99 - Created all the non playable characters. Sorry, didn't have much time to work on it. *sigh* =( 10/29/99 - Changed intro, added game systems section. But now I have to eat dinner and my dad wants to play EverQuest. =( 10/30/99 - Changed Plot and Storyline, added new NPC's, changed battle system somewhat, added magic system. Umm, yeah. 10/31/99 - HUGE update! For me, anyways. I have changed the battle system a little bit and finished the rest of the systems. Added the stat list. Also upped the power of all the Gods of the Planes, because I figured for all the dungeons and Planes I have planned out that your characters will be insanely powerful compared to the Gods. So get ready! Also, everyone is one of two classes now, the fighter class or the magic class. This determines what kind of armor they can wear. Also added DLY (delay) to the weapons you can make, but it's on my rough draft here. Not going up yet! Made the whole thing look more organized 'n' stuff. Added Status Changes, Thank You's, and Porunga and Surrounding Areas. Started SOE's. 0~~~~{======================> INTRO Hey there, this is BigOgre! I'm not new to writing IAQ's, so this MIGHT be good. I have carefully thought out the battle, magic, armor, and weapon systems, and I hope it is unique and interesting. Sooo... hope ya enjoy it, cause I might actually work on this one. Other IAQs I have made: Outcast, Life: The RPG, and contributed a teensy weensy bit to The Prodigy IAQ by Arkrist Enemia. Just pointed out a few mistakes there ^_^ ! Well, don't e-mail me with any flames or I'll have to throw you in a boiling cauldron of lava! :P 0~~~~{======================> STAT LIST PP - Power Points, which is magic points, ability points, and hit points combined ATK - Attack Power, determines the damage caused by an attack DEF - Defense Power, determines how much damage you take for a hit SPD - Speed Power, determines how fast you Charge or perform attacks in battle DLY - Delay, determines how fast or slow you swing your weapon (for every 10 DLY you have to wait an extra 1 second to attack again. The default is you can attack and wait one second, then attack again. If your weapon has a DLY of 20, you have to wait 3 seconds before you can attack again. Combos are an exception to this considering they are a bunch of moves strung together.) VS FIRE - saves damage vs. fire creatures VS ICE - saves damage vs. ice creatures VS WATER - saves damage vs. water creatures VS SKY - saves damage vs. sky creatures VS HOLY - saves damage vs. holy creatures VS DARK - saves damage vs. dark creatures STATUS CHANGES Confuse - you will attack your own allies until cured Blind - cannot hit opponent until cured Poison - 10PP depletes every 5 seconds until cured Death - causes instant death to a character 0~~~~{======================> PLOT and STORYLINE Plot - The plot is set in the fortress town of Porunga, the only town left on the planet Lemia. Our adventurers will eventually travel into the different "planes" of the world through Portals: Planes included are the Plane of Nature, Plane of Water, Plane of Sky, Plane of Fear, Plane of Hate, Plane of Wonders, Plane of Illusion, Plane of Darkness, Plane of Demons, and the 10th Hell. Storyline - The planet has been acting strange lately, and many believe it is the work of the evil gods. The Earth's president has had this inspected with his seers. Yes, it is indeed the work of the evil gods. The good gods are weak, but they are trying to stop the madness. The evil gods have all allied to form the Nation of Destruction, and have conquered all of the Earth except the fortress town of Porunga. The only reason Porunga hasn't been taken is because it is protected by magic. All of the Earth's people are being used as slaves to the NoD. It is up to you to ally the good gods against this evil, and to help them stop it... 0~~~~{======================> CHARACTERS note: their power levels are their maximum power levels they START with at the beginning of the game. alexander sage age: 19 height: 6'1" weight: 197 lbs personality: nice person unless mad magic: Implanted weapon(s): claw class: fighter power level: 200 jack harvey age: 34 height: 5'11" weight: 211 lbs personality: go with the flow guy magic: none weapon(s): gun class: fighter power level: 230 rakeem livatana age: 15 height: 5'7" weight: 146 lbs personality: positive magic: born weapon(s): fists/feet class: both power level: 350 vince lowe age: ?? height: 6'5" weight: 217 lbs personality: dark and quiet magic: implanted...? weapon(s): scythe/sickle class: magic power level: 275 charles highking age: 12 height: 5'1" weight: 97 lbs personality: annoying and obnoxious magic: none weapon(s): dagger/dirk class: fighter power level: 50 vivian vox age: 21 height: 5'6" weight: 105 lbs personality: seductive and bubbly magic: born weapon(s): staff/rod class: magic power level: 300 lance lagoon age: 22 height: 5'11" weight: 174 lbs personality: "smart ass" magic: implanted weapon(s): sword/lance class: fighter power level: 500 eve malana (hidden) age: 65 height: 5'7" weight: 121 lbs personality: smart and strange magic: born weapon(s): pike class: magic power level: ???? justin mcneil (hidden) age: 14 height: ?? weight: 121 lbs. personality: ????? magic: born weapon(s): axe class: fighter power level: 2000 NON-CHARACTERS king locke (King of Earth) age: 45 height: 5'9" weight: 276 lbs personality: "smart ass" and snob magic: none weapon(s): guards power level: 25 black lord silvius (God of Hell) age: ?? height: ?? weight: ??? personality: ????? magic: born and implanted weapon(s): spirits, powerful summoned weapons (any weapon) power level: around 70000 shadow queen keira (Queen of Hell) age: 14 height: 5'0" weight: About 90 lbs. personality: brainwashed.... magic: heavily implanted weapon(s): none, she summons pets to protect her power level: around 30000 advisor xorbb (Advisor of Silvius) age: ?? height: none, he is a floating ball of energy weight: 0 lbs personality: does anything his master wants magic: implanted weapon(s): none power level: around 1000 demon brellius "the one eye demon" (Demon Commander) age: 29 height: 6'9" height: 251 lbs personality: brutal, vicious, mean magic: implanted weapon(s): dual swords power level: around 11000 undead warlord brellius (Prophet of Darkness) age: none height: 5'10" weight: 218 lbs personality: kills anything that disobeys him magic: implanted weapon(s): staff/rod power level: around 18000 arkania "the shapeshifter" (Master of Illusion) age: 23 height: ?? weight: ??? personality: stealthy, sneaky magic: born weapon(s): anything power level: depends on his form at the time garde the bard (Bard of Wonders) age: 19 height: ?? weight: ??? personality: wonderful singer, loves to build things magic: implanted and born weapon(s): bow/sword power level: around 11000 the damned one (God of Hate) age: ?? height: ?? weight: ??? personality: filled with hate magic: born weapon(s): the spikes on his body power level: 7000 katik zool (God of Fear) age: ?? height: 8'9" weight: 431 lbs. personality: sure of himself, intimidating magic: born weapon(s): his outrageous strength power level: around 9500 sky lord qwellius (Lord of the Sky) age: ?? height: ?? weight: none personality: basically a good guy magic: born weapon(s): bows power level: around 5000 queen bubbles (Queen of the Water) age: 23 height: around 5'7" weight: 153 lbs. personality: very kind magic: born weapon(s): none power level: around 4500 moonblader treeborn (Ranger of Nature) age: 38 height: 5'11" weight: 189 lbs. personality: stands for justice magic: implanted weapon(s): polished granite tomahawk, trueshot longbow, and dragoon dirk power level: around 3000 0~~~~{======================> GAME SYSTEMS (Battle, Magic, Armor, Weapons, Experience, Treasure, Traveling): BATTLE SYSTEM The battle system in Freedom: A Call For Help is kind of like Star Ocean: The Second Story's (real time) but it's much more complex than hitting the x button. The computer controls everyone but Alexander, but you may switch people by using the R1 button. Freedom combines the combos of the fighting games with the magic and complexities of an RPG. For example, if you wanted to do a simple slashing move with your sword, you just press the x button. This will cause minimal damage, but it's fast and causes more damage than the circle button (kick) or the square button (punch). The quickness of your attack is also determined by the DLY, or Delay, of the weapon you are currently using. Punching and Kicking have a DLY of 2, which means you can do them really fast (good for stopping spells and combos), but they cause minimal damage. The more levels you gain, the more moves you'll have. For example, at Power Level 1500 Alexander has many different moves to choose from. Some are harder to perform and also take longer too (also read below about the power level thing). The triangle button will initiate the magic menu, where you choose the type of magic you'd like to use (if you have it researched or learned). The more you use a magic the better you become at it. So if you use Fire magic constantly, you will become excellent at Fire magic soon but will not become better at any other type of magic. To use magic, just select the type of magic you'd like to use. Then to use the basic spell of that type of magic just press triangle again and you'll cast a simple spell. To learn better spells, you must have them learned from a Magic Gym (or someone that will teach it to you), or you can research the spell. ALL moves except the one slash (from your weapon), punch, or kick moves take Power Points away from your character. Power Points are basically Ability Points, Magic Points, and Hit Points combined. If you use a combo or a magic spell, it costs Power Points. But don't use too much magic or combos because you won't be left with very many Power Points, and then a couple hits from an enemy could kill you. Don't fear, however, because by pressing the L1 button you can Charge for 5 seconds getting 100 PP's back. But if you are hit while Charging, you will lose PP's and not get anything for your troubles. That's why you should use the Guard command with another character by pressing R2. This command steps in front of the nearest character that is Charging or starting to perform a combo or magic spell. PP's are determined by the Power Level of the character. You gain more Power with each battle, and the amount you gain is determined by the difficulty of the enemy. MAGIC SYSTEM The magic system in Freedom: A Call For Help is unlike any other game I've ever played. There are several different types of magic. These magics are: Fire, Ice, Water, Sky, Holy, Dark (just like any other RPG, but here's what makes it unique). If you *don't* have magic, then you have something called Power Moves, which is just like magic except no elements are added into the mix. The person doing the Power Move exceeds his maximum PP's allowed and pulls of an incredible move that turn, sometimes doing hundreds of thousands of damage. But, there is one drawback to this. The person loses A LOT of PP's and has to rest for 5 seconds. Anyhow, to make new magic spells, you must learn them from a Magic Gym, someone that will teach one, or you must research. To learn from a Magic Gym, just talk to the leader and he will show you a list of available spells to teach. Each has a huge fee. To get someone to teach a spell, you must often do a quest or something in their favor. Now... Researching. This is very unique, and it is a lot of fun. First, you must buy a Tome, available at any Magic Gym. Then you have to search out Scrolls, but each scroll will have different writing on it. Some you will not even be able to decipher. The more advanced the writing is, the more powerful the spell will be. Then, after you have found a scroll, you have to find the Orb that the scroll says to combine with. Let's say that Scroll of Monkeys (made up) has to be combined with a Fire Orb. So now that you have both a Fire Orb and a Scroll of Monkeys, open your Tome by highlighting it in your inventory and pressing x. Then you select the Fire Orb and the Scroll and press x when they are highlighted and they will automatically be placed inside the Tome. After they are inside, highlight the Tome again and press x to combine the Fire Orb and Scroll of Monkeys. You will now have a new spell in your spell list! It is called Flaming Monkeys (not a real spell, batteries not included). But you no longer have a Fire Orb, Scroll of Monkeys, or a Tome in your inventory. This is because you just used them, dummy. You have to buy another Tome and seek out more Scrolls and Orbs. Now, let's say that this spell attacks one enemy with a bunch of flaming monkeys, of course. To perform this spell, you must have the PP it takes. If you don't have the PP, have someone Guard you so you can Charge up for the attack. After you have enough PP, follow the button sequence that is to the right of the spell name and how much PP it costs. This particular spell requires that you press up, up, square. After pressing these buttons in order, you should have performed the move and you will see flaming monkeys come and attack the opponent for some damage! But, if you are hit while trying to perform a spell, you lose the PP it cost and you don't do the move. Alright, now let's say that you didn't follow the directions and you didn't stick a Fire Orb in the Tome, but a Water Orb. Well, this will not create any type of spell because the Scroll specifically tells you to combine it with a Fire Orb. So, in this case you will lose the Tome, Scroll, and Orb, and you will not get a spell. Now if the Scroll of Monkeys said 'Combine with Fire Orb or Water Orb' you could create a spell with the Water Orb. Some scrolls are like this, so make sure you choose the more powerful spell ^_^ ! ARMOR SYSTEM There are several different types of armor: Chest, Head, Arms, Hands, Legs, and Feet. Each part of the body has a special name for the piece of armor that goes there. Chest is Plate (fighter) or Robe (magic), Head is Helm (fighter) or Hood (magic), Arms are Vambraces (fighter) or Sleeves (magic), Hands is Gauntlets (fighter) or Gloves (magic), Legs is Greaves (fighter) or Leggings (magic), Feet is Boots (fighter) or Sandals (magic). Now scattered across the dungeons, towns, shops, or Planes of Earth are the pieces of metal or leather necessary to create armor. Let's say that you find a Leather Hood. Now the Leather determines how strong the armor will hold up in battle. Leather doesn't hold up to well, so the protection in battle won't be that great, butit's better than nothing. Now that you have a Leather Hood, you can wear it. But wait! You can enhance this piece of armor buy adding one of those infamous Orbs to the mix! For example, if you wanted a Blue Leather Hood, you would find a Water Orb, since you already have the Leather Hood. Now, after you find one, you must take both of these items to your local blacksmith to combine them into the Blue Leather Hood. Now, when you speak to him he gives you four options: Buy, Sell, Combine, or Exit. Choose combine. Then you will have to select your Leather Hood and Orb by pressing x when they are highlighted. He takes the two items, and then there is an FMV of him working on something if it is successful. Then you will recieve the Blue Leather Hood! It has DEF + 3 and VS WATER + 3 (in which the damage of a water creature is divided by 3). So against a water creature this new piece of equipment will become very handy. Now if you found a Metal Plate and that Water Orb, you would do the same thing. Once again, if successful, you will see an FMV of the blacksmith working on something. Then he will hand you the Blue Metal Plate, which is DEF + 12 SV WATER + 5 (in which the damage of a water creature is divided by 5). But after combining the items you will no longer have them in your inventory. The more expensive the armor the better the stats will be, as you can see the difference. Now, this may seem confusing, because you can make hundreds of different pieces of armor. That's what I want! WEAPON SYSTEM Now if you thought the Armor or Magic systems were confusing, the Weapon system is confusing to me! Okay, now, let's say all of your weapons are pretty decent except Alex's. You want a new claw weapon, and since you are going up against Undead creatures in the Plane of Darkness, you want something that will hurt them badly. So, you will go buy or find some kind of metallic claw. Let's say you happen to find Dragon Talons on a Baby Dragon monster. So, you have one piece of the weapon, now you have to find two others. For the weapon you fit on your hand, you have you find a Gauntlet (since he is fighter) to attach it to (this is only necessary for the claw weapon, on any other weapon you would just combine the weapon with an Orb). Okay, you found Dragon Talons, Alumina Gauntlets, and you want something that hurts undead creatures. So seek out a Holy Orb, one of the many found in the dungeons of the Earth. Once you have found it, take all three items, talk to the blacksmith, and ask him to combine these items. Select them using the x button while they are highlighted. A FMV will pop up and it will show the blacksmith making some type of weapon. Then he will hand you the Holy Dragon Claw! This weapon is ATK + 74 DLY 21 VS DARK + 20, which will kick some serious undead butt. But after combining the items you will no longer have them in your inventory, but who cares cause now you have a butt kicking weapon! Now it is possible to create hundreds of different weapons... which makes for great replayability. Which is what I want! EXPERIENCE SYSTEM The experience system in Freedom: A Call For Help is not like any other RPG that I've ever seen! It may be confusing, but your characters don't actually gain any *levels*. They gain PP after every fight. Each single monster you defeat adds 1 PP to your maximum. So if you defeat 3 Shadow Men, then you recieve + 3 PP added to your maximum, PERMENATLY! When you defeat a boss of some sort you always recieve + 5 PP added to your maximum. But the addition of PP only goes to the people you are using in your party at that time. So, if you use the same characters throughout the whole game they will be super-powerful, but your others will be monster food. If you die before completing the dungeon or Plane (defeating the dungeon or Plane is considered as beating the Boss of the dungeon or Plane), you will lose all the PP you have gained so far in that dungeon or Plane. This is so you don't gain a bunch of power by defeating a lot of monsters, dying, and starting from the beginning again (that would make your characters insanely powerful). I suggest going through every dungeon in the game so you can gain lots of power, because you will need it for the last Boss and his minions.... TREASURE SYSTEM The treasure system in FACFH is pretty basic. After you kill a monster, you get all the $ and items they were carrying. Most all of the items they drop can be used for SOMETHING. For example, if you kill a Lizard Man and recieve LizardMeat, then you kill a Treant and recieve a Branch, you can take those two items to the Porunga bakery and combine them in the oven (by pressing x near the oven to open it and selecting the two items) into Lizard-On-A-Stick. Lizard-On-A-Stick will heal one of your characters by 200PP. Pretty good! TRAVELING Traveling through the actual town of Porunga is pretty simple. It's just like Wild ARMs. World travel is like that of Star Ocean: The Second Story's but it has a compass in the lower right corner of the screen. To travel into a Plane, simply step into a Portal. A FMV will pop up of Alexander walking through a big stone filled with jello looking stuff. OOOOoooOOOoooOOO! When you walk inside a dungeon there will be an FMV of Alexander going into a cave. OOOoooOOOOOoooOOOOO! 0~~~~{======================> PORUNGA and SURROUNDING AREAS Porunga is a town, the only town left on Earth. All around the town are dungeons filled with creatures that plague the town. To the north of Porunga, there are 9 Portals to step through to go to different planes, and 1 Portal to walk through straight east of Porunga. This Portal is to the 10th Hell. Porunga has many, many different shops. There is a Magic Gym (to learn some magic moves and to buy Tomes), an Inn (to recover all PP's for $100), a Smithy (to create new weapons and armor), a Jeweller (to buy accessories which protect you against some status changes), a Bakery (to combine different items to possibly create a new item), an Item Shop (to buy the cheapest items available). And, um, that's basically it. 0~~~~{======================> S.O.E.'s (Sequence of Events) 0~~~~{======================> THANK YOU'S Serpent231 - For being there to post it up for me!
